Hello, here are a few reasons why I think it is ok to still update to 2.1.0 even if you want homebrew:
Homebrew in the future could possibly support the latest version (before a new patch)
Also lets say something like a9lh comes out for the Switch in the future. Nintendo could patch the ability to get it. But then there will be a possibility to downgrade to the hackable firmware. But then of course Nintendo will try to patch that, and we will try to fix that like the 3ds. (But unfortunately 11.3 is not).
I would update now if you want online functionality with the Switch. The hackers will tell you not to update when they find userend exploits for homebrew if you want that.
