I use Manjaro, because it have all advantages of Arch, but comes with a DE or WM, letting me being lazy since the installation (It's easier install Manjaro and delete a few packages that I don't need than install Arch and install all packages that I need). Manjaro is pretty good for Linux beginners as well.
Manjaro also have 3 packages servers setup, Stable (You will always have some packages in the last stable), Testing (All packages will be with the last beta before stable release) and Unstable (Well, just follow the pattern)

I use the KDE, but I also like Budgie and Deepin DE. I'll probably install Budgie after the migration to Qt is complete, (Since I use a DE that uses Qt, I don't want to have more than the necessary GTK+ stuff)

Why did you need to lose all the data on your Windows partition? Isn't the best way to prevent having to lose data to just create an unallocated partition in Disk Management and install Linux alongside Windows?

Edit: Oops, just saw you were actually trying to reinstall Linux. In that case, couldn't you have deleted the Linux partition and then created another unallocated space?
That's strange, when I messed up my Ubuntu MATE install yesterday, I installed it on the same partitions I'd used for it before. W10 is intact.

well, obviously i don't know enough about OSes
Don't worry, there is no problem in that.

to be more specific about what I said, freeBSD is a kernel and there is several distribution that uses it

Darwin is the open source OS used as core of the macOS, and originally it was a fork of BSD kernel mixing with Mach kernel components using the XNU kernel

So, I have to fix what I said:
He can use freeBSD distro, Solaris, Haiku OS, React OS or other OS that don't use either Linux, Windows or XNU kernels

I use Arch Linux with Cinnamon. I do also like:
- Budgie (graphics never seems to work, sadly, but I do like it)
- MATE
- Openbox
- Xfce
- JWM
- LXDE
- Deepin

Servers: Either Debian or CentOS, depending on the type of server I'm using (and on how lazy I am, because most bundle VPS images are based off CentOS).
Desktop: Manjaro Linux, on all computers I own, my main PC (MacBook Pro), desktop (iMac), and other desktop (Mac Mini) run MATE, my tablet (Surface Pro 3) runs KDE. I also have a Surface Pro with Windows 10, just in case.
Mobile: Arch Linux on Nexus 5X, and Kubuntu on Nexus 5, both are nonfunctional as fuck, but at least Plasma-Mobile is still under heavy development, so I'll stick with an iPhone instead, for now.

Been using Kubuntu 17.04 for 2 weeks, it's my first time using Linux. Been interested on it since I was 12, but decided to just nuke my NTFS partitions and use it as my main OS :P

Kind of considering switching distros because I've had some minor problems with Kubuntu, but changing distro sounds too annoying :s

Yes @blujay, you can.
For Surface tablets (excluding Surface RT and Surface 2), it's the same process as on a laptop, except you'll need to turn off Secure Boot first, and boot up from USB by holding the volume down and power buttons on boot, until the Surface logo appears.

As for phones: https://plasma-mobile.org/nexus-5/
