Couldn't we just fake tickets then?
no because it won't be in nintendo's servers :)
but, yes, if you have hax to ignore the signature check, you can 'redownload' content :)
bu only if the ticket has the correct title key. (decryption key for when the content installs)

Is there any risk to going online while having legit CIA's installed?
Where can I find the central topic for updates, information etc. about FBI that can install legit CIA's on 10.3?
I'm using 10.3 n3DS atm, will installing fw updates possibly remove installed legit CIA's?

Thanks

all we can say is no one has been banned for pirated cias, let alone legit ones. piracy seems to be safe on 3ds, don't worry.

I have a question: I have Fantasy Life (US) that I purchased directly from eShop waaaaay back. Right now I'm on 9.5.0-28U emuNAND on my N3DS. If I download a DLC cia file with the correct region for it, will it patch the digital game correctly?

Don't if this has been answered already, but here it goes-

What exactly prevents one from injecting another game into a legit CIA package?

Like extracting/decrypting it to put another game contents in and/or checking the extracted files to see what enables the universal legit signature and use it for other CIAs?

well, you CAN edit it. but the signatures won't then match up :)

from the first post:

If you edit the file, the signature will not be valid anymore.
If you remove your console id, so that the cia will install on other people's 3DSs, the signature is not valid.
If you patch the demo play count so you can remove the 5, 10, 30 play limit from the demo, the signature is not valid.
If you patch the dlc permissions to set that you have permission for all the dlc, the signature will not be valid.
If you decrypt the contents and edit the game, make it region free, or translate the game it etc, and then re-encrypt, the signature will not be valid.
Only nintendo can create these signatures.

Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of 3DS files versus CIA files? I have a gateway card btw.

As I understand it, the CIAs will install directly to the system menu and are stored on the SD card in my 3ds.
And .3DS roms are stored on the gateway micro sd card, and I have to access them via the gateway menu.

Are there any other key features or benefits for one or the other? I have absolutely no interest in online play.
I want to stick with a single format for all my games, I'm just not sure if it matters which one I go with.

Well since you have GW you have some additional Pros like cheats and stuff.

3DS files:
+ Easy to get and play. You just download them to your flashcard and that's it.
+ They dont take space in your 3DS' SD.
+ No need to wait for the game to install.
- You have to create a private header to play safely online.
- You need to change the extension to 3DZ to play online.

CIA files:
+ No need for private headers to play online safely.
+ No need to rename them to play online.
+ You can get some Legit CIAs and even play them in sysnand w/o sig patch.
- You need to install them to your SD to play them.
- Take up SD card space.
- The installation process can be quite long.

Since you have a GW, I think using two SDs to play 3DS files is somewhat bothersome.
You need one for the GW card and the other for the 3DS.
You could very well just get one big SD for the console and have everything as CIA in one place.

Can you tell me if (legit) CIA's can survive firmware updates? Also which FBI installer is recommended, the central topic on gbatemp seems to be for non-legit CIA's.

I have a question, if some bought a 3ds with game pee installed on it , then he linked his nnid , will the game attached to his nnid and can be transferred?

2- if i got another 3ds with also pre installed game, and I want to transfer my old 3ds with the games installed on it (and that pre installed game as well)
What can i do in that situation?
