Hacking Gaming Homebrew usbloadergx understanding cios settings

I understand that a game iOS matters for playing the game but what does loaders iOS do?
And how come some loader loses don't work?
Can someone please explain this and tell me which loader iOS to use?
ps: I'm on a pal original Wii and with the latest usbloader gx version with these cios installed:
slot 248 base 38
slot249 base 56
slot 250 base 57
slot 251 base 58

Most of your problems will reflect back to Flash drive & Fat32 compatibility issues.

Purchase a Seagate/WD 2tb USB HDD from Officeworks/JB-HIFI/Harvey Norman.
98% of your problems will be solved.
Yeah, it's more clumpy than Flash drives, but your sanity will be safer
