I used a video tutorial to homebrew my Wii (which I shouldn't have, it had some outdated files) and it showed installing USB Loader GX in the tutorial. However, I cannot get USB loader to recognize the USB. It says "initializing USB device" then after a few more things it then just says "Waiting for HDD". I have checked multiple times that my USB is in the right slot. Then it says “USB not initalized. Switching to Channel List Mode”.

You're missing cios250 and 251, but the real/direct cause of your issue is likely incompatible usb. I'm guessing it's a thumb drive? These drives often exhibit greater compatibility when formatted as wbfs (using wii backup manager) instead of fat32. Doing so would mean it can only store wii games though, so it's not as ideal as having a hdd formatted as fat32. A better option would probably be to get a normal hard drive that it's a small thumb/flash drive.

I've tried different thumb drives (before I posted) and none of them worked either (I also do not have a hdd) and I used wii backup manager (I do not know if it formatted the drive as it was previously FAT32) to import my games onto them. Should I use ModMii to try and re softmod or install the cios?

You can drag and drop your syscheck.csv onto modmii.exe and it will tell you what to do. But you should also try formatting your thumb drive as wbfs, this is not automatically done by wii backup manager, u need to go to its tools menu and manually tell it what drive u want formatted and how

I tried formatting as wbfs in wii backup manager but it still did not work. I will be trying to resoft mod using ModMii.

I used the ModMii guide but it still did not work, USB Loader GX still says "USB Device not initialized. Switching to channel list mode". I'm going to try another thumb drive just to make sure that it's not just this one.

The other thumb drives did not work. I do not know what I should do now? I know that the thumb drives are definitely USB 2.0 or 1.0. USB Loader GX still says the error.

Post a syscheck (again), to see if you've updated your softmods correctly.

Use this modded version of usbloadergx by @blackb0x (the non wad channel version), overwrite the old files you have on the sd card with these, and try again.
Format the flash drive within WiiBackupmanager (or with Wbfsmanager if you couldn't figure out how..).
Make sure the usb flash drive is plugged in port 0 (the lower port ,when the console's in a horizontal position).

How large is the flash drive that you're trying to use and have you formatted it to FAT32 with a 32KB cluster size?

Download Wii Backup Manager and from the tools menu see if you can format the USB as FAT32 with the cluster size set to 32KB.

If you're only going to use the USB for Wii games then you can try using NTFS or exFAT.
I used Wii Backup Manager and formatted to FAT32 with cluster set to 32KB and used USB Loader GX Enhanced version but it still says "Waiting for HDD" and "USB Device not initialized".

You're using USB port 0, right?

If you are then try formatting to NTFS or exFAT instead. But should neither of them work then the d2x cIOS doesn't support your flash drive.

It seems d2x cIOS doesn't support my flash drives. I tried both slots on NTFS, exFAT, and FAT32. Thanks for helping though.
