Hi!
How are you guys?

I have some issue here and I was wondering if anyone was kind to help me or point me into the right direction.

I have a wii, I bought it back in 2007.
It had the 3.4 update until just moments ago.
I decided to update using the nintendo way.
Now I have 4.2
I was going to do the "bannerbomb alpha - v2" method to re-softmod it
But when update finished It still had the homebrew channel (btw I updated homebrewchannel like 2 weeks ago).
everything in the homebrew channel works. Wad manager, the homebrew browser.
But the backup launcher doesnt.
Anyone got any Idea of what to do?

I was wondering if I should delete the homebrew channel and just do the Bannerbomb v2.

Please anyone that can point me into the right direction.

Thanks.

How about I already read the guide and it doesnt have to do anything with this case?

Every install cIOS rev/backuplauncher/4.2 guides part from the point that you used bannerbomb. I didnt. I just updated and I still had my homebrew.

But I'll just re do everything again
thanks for your time though.

How about you didn't read it. Cause if you did your back-up channel would be working.

The reason why you still have HBC is because updated it. I'm guessing you have HBC 1.0.6 right? That's the only thing that's remains from your previous hack.

You're going to have to do everything again.
Here's some info about the 4.2 update that's taken from the CompleteSoftModGuide:

This update is the biggest Homebrew stopping update till now. Some effects on Homebrew are (green = solutions):
Deletes the Homebrew Channel ? Homebrew channel got new titleID (JODI instead of HAXX)
Blocks Bannerbomb, other exploits remain unchanged (Twilight Hack was already blocked on 4.0). ? New version of bannerbomb was released
Overwrites boot2v2 and boot2v3, overwriting BootMii on consoles without boot2v4 already installed. ? Reinstall Bootmii after updating (if you could install it before)
System menu now uses IOS70, as attempt to block preloader ? Preloader can use IOS70 now
Known cIOS (249, 250, 222 and 223) get overwritten by stubs (unused placefillers) ? Delete them with Wad manager (or AnyTitle Deleter). IOS250 doesn't get overwritten if you already had it.
You might want to know if there are any advantages. Well, the answer is NO. This update was only to block homebrew, nothing else.
But still, if you want to start fresh, I'd recommend updating to 4.2 as its not too different to softmod it.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
