Hacking Unbrick ds flashcarts with nds-hb-menu?

I have two r4igold flashcarts and they're bricked(plus one r4i sdhc v2.0 happybox).
I've downloaded the firmware updater to install it to the flashcarts in order to unbrick them. As it's not possible to hotswap the carts, I can't use the ds method, but if I run the firmware updater from the nds-hb-menu it should work. Anyway when I start the updater I don't see the option to install the firmware. Any ideas? PS: I'm trying the first r4igold flashcart
