How to export/import Gateway Card1 .sav to eShop/3ds/3dz with SaveDataFiler

I found a workaround how to export/import Card1 Savegames (no retail support)

First you know we had the problem of " CTR - BROKEN ", but there is a little trick to it.

!MT-Card USER can do this without Workaround because the save gets loaded on ROM mounting!

To fetch your Cartridge Savegames, you can use this method: NTR Savegame Manager Plugin

We need:

- Red Gateway Card
- The Exploit
- Launcher.dat (tested with 3.0.3 Ultra)
- SaveDataFiler
- The .3ds/.3dz/.cia Game you want to export/import
- A working Savegame (Dumped Savegames from Retail might not work)
- A PC/MAC (any Device capeable to rename Files)

!MAKE ALWAYS BACKUPS FROM YOUR SAVEGAMES!

A. EXPORT .3ds/.3dz to eShop:

Savegame example: Super Mario 3D Land (0004000000053F00) > http://3ds.essh.co/

1. Connect the SD Card to your PC
2. Copy your Savegame and save it as 000400000FF40A00.sav
3. Put SD Card back into your 3DS
4. Turn it on and execute Exploit
5. Mount your .3ds/.3dz Game
6. Start SaveDataFiler (CTR Card is no longer broken!) and highlight CTR Card
7. Press Y and then A to export the Savegame

SaveDataFiler stores in SDCARD:\filer\UserSaveData\20150131010203\0000053f
YEAR-MONTH-DAY-HOUR-MINUTE-SECONDS \ TitleID low

8. Switch to SD and highlight your TitleID
9. Press R+A and then A to import your Savegame
10. Press Home, select the cia game and press two times A to start

B. EXPORT eShop to .3ds/.3dz:

Savegame example: Super Mario 3D Land (0004000000053F00) > http://3ds.essh.co/

1. Start your 3DS and execute Exploit
2. Mount your Game
3. Start SaveDataFiler and highlight your TitleID low
4. Press Y and then A to export the Savegame
5. Switch over to SD and highlight TitleID low
6. Press L + A and then A to create 000400000FF40A00.sav (CTR Card is no longer broken!)
7. Turn your 3DS off and connect the SD CARD with your PC
8. Copy 000400000FF40A00.sav to your TitleID (0004000000053F00.sav)
9. Put your SD Card back into your 3DS
10. Turn your 3DS on and execute Exploit
11. Mount your Game and start it

Export Retail Card with CFW and SDF:

Note: As for CFW works only with FW4.5, 6.x encryption will fail.

1. You need CFW and installed SafeDataFiler on a spare SD Card
2. Start your CFW and insert your Cartridge
3. Start SafeDataFiler and highlight CTR Card
4. Press Y and then A to export the Savegame
5. Turn off your 3DS and move the 'filer' folder to your PC
6. Switch over to your Gateway (emuNAND) SD Card and add the 'filer' folder from PC
7. Insert your Gateway (emuNAND) SD Card into your 3DS
8. Start your 3DS, execute Exploit and start SaveDataFiler
9. Now you can follow A8 for eShop or B5 for .3ds/.3dz

(Be patient with CFW, sometimes it takes 10 tries to get it working)

Thx queno138 : original Post

Info:

"Nintendo 3DS\ID1\ID2\" = eShop , "000400000000XXXXXXX.sav" = Card 1

If your ID1\ID2 does not match after downgrade or formating 3DS,
your Save is LOST if there is no NAND Backup using that ID1\ID2!!!

If you have the NAND Backup matching ID1\ID2,
you can import it as emuNAND with emuNANDTool!

It is impossible to use NAND Backups or encrypted eShop saves
from another 3DS! You need to decrypt the saves first before you
can transfer them!

EXPORT / IMPORT from Original Cartridge is now possible
with Cubic Ninja + PASTA CFW + SaveData Filer!!!

Hi! I wanted to start OoT in Master Quest mode and stumbled on that save file : http://www.3dsinfo.com/show.php?id=518 - Will I be able to inject that sav into a Rom? I have read the guide and meet all the requirements.
where could I find savedatafiler? It's not hosted on the GW website. I also found this when I tried googling savedatafiler http://www.maxconsole.com/maxcon_forums/threads/287049-How-to-use-SaveDataFiler but where is that stuff hosted? (sorry for the noob questions)

If you're trying to inject it into a cartridge then you don't need Savedatafiler at all. Just put the sav on your sd card, open Launcher.dat and go to Restore 3DS Savegame.

Hey guys. ive read through this thread, but am still having issues with my MH4U game. i have a retail cart and want to import my save into either a CIA install of the game, or be able to run it with a .3ds backup of my cartridge. Id prefer the .cia. I imported my save from my cartridge using the gateway menu, renamed it to the gateway game ID, mounted the game, adn opened savedatafiler, but the CTR card is broken. Any suggestions?

I think it isn't working with the n3ds :/ I have been trying with MM3D and no cigar.

If you just want to run it via .3Dz, you can dump the game via gw menu, and once you rename the save to the title id (0004000000126300[US version]) and place the dump on the GW mSD, and rename the dump to .3dz, it should run just fine from the multi Rom Menu.

I'm going to try getting the save out via O3DS on 4.x Just gotta update the darn thing first :) Will let you know how it goes ;)

EDIT1: ALSO make sure that you install updates and DLC AFTER you transfer the save, otherwise it will come as corrupt.

You need to change the filename to SDF's titleid, not the game's.

You have to make the game that you are transferring be in the exact same state as it was on the cart.

So if you have update 1.1 on your cart, you need update 1.1 on your gw game before transferring the save.

Yeah I made sure they were the same, but no dice. I think this might just be an encryption issue to be honest.

Yep, I think you're right actually. I can't get my MM3D save transferred :( but my FEAwakening save went through the whole transfer from cart to .CIA

It was the most important one I guess.

Can I do this process with a bunch of games at once (i.e. decrypt multiple rom saves by mounting each one one-at-a-time, swap the rom headers on my computer, and export multiple decrypted saves back using savedatafiler), instead of repeating the process in its entirety for each rom?

This worked great. For those wanting to transfer their .3ds saves to .3dz (and vice versa), or .3dz with a public header to .3dz with a private header, you can follow the guide in this order:

A. EXPORT .3ds/.3dz save to decrypted save:

Savegame example: Super Mario 3D Land (0004000000053F00) > http://3ds.essh.co/

1. Connect the SD Card to your PC
2. Copy your Savegame and save it as 000400000FF40A00.sav
3. Put SD Card back into your 3DS
4. Turn it on and execute Exploit
5. Mount your .3ds/.3dz Game (Warning: The rom mounted must be the exact rom that has the same header as the save you want to decrypt)
6. Start SaveDataFiler (CTR Card is no longer broken!) and highlight CTR Card
7. Press Y and then A to export the Savegame (It will now be in the SD tab, decrypted).

B. EXPORT decrypted save to .3ds/.3dz save:

Savegame example: Super Mario 3D Land (0004000000053F00) > http://3ds.essh.co/

1. Put Rom you want to export the save to in your microSD (If transferring a save from a header-less .3ds to a .3dz, this is the time you replace said .3ds with said .3dz)
2. Run exploit
3. Mount the game
4. Start SaveDataFiler
5. Switch over to SD and highlight TitleID low
6. Press L + A and then A to create 000400000FF40A00.sav (CTR Card is no longer broken!)
7. Turn your 3DS off and connect the SD CARD with your PC
8. Copy 000400000FF40A00.sav to your TitleID (0004000000053F00.sav)
9. Put your SD Card back into your 3DS
10. Turn your 3DS on and execute Exploit
11. Mount your Game and start it

Note: I ran into a problem trying to decrypt a save because I had already replaced the corresponding .3dz rom with a new .3dz rom (with a private header) before decrypting the old save. This is why you must switch the rom only after part A is completed.

No, because you'd just keep overwriting the same file (000400000FF40A00.sav) multiple times

I have retail cart of MH4U I'm playing it using GW classic mode.
now I wan't to transfer my save game to a .3dz so I can play it on GW mode.

question if this is possible.
If I'm going to Dumped my mh4u game = .3ds will my save will also be included on that dumped file. and from there can I extract the save using savedata filer.? and follow the instruction here so I can transfer it in the .3dz?

For you and other future members.

Games with 7.x encryption will not work with sdf. It was never updated to support these functions. In fact, it also will never be updated.

Unless some kind soul decides to create a save data manager and release it, we are stuck with playing it in classic/GW mode.

so that simply mean that I won't be able to transfer my save game to a Back-up rom right.? because the game has 7.x encryption. Thanks :)
