originally the files are RMV, the bat first rename them to BIK, and then run the converter to create a new set of RMV files with the correct format you must have on your SD Card the new set of RMV files not the BIK ones.

Can this be modded to use the single map mod that the PC has + other tweaks?

Unfortunately not, while you could extract the custom assets out of the mod you'd still be missing the code patching that the mod launcher does. It would be quite a lot of work to make the source code compatible with those mods, but it is definitely doable though.
I found that the audio begins to crackle if you put the Switch into sleep mode and wake it back up in the middle of the game. I hope a future patch is made to fix this issue.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.+1 -

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.+1 -
