I haven't played my switch in a while, but just turned it on. It seems to be fw 4.1.0. I kind of want to update it so I can play new games, but I do want to try CFW when it gets released. Is there any benefit of staying on 4.1.0?

  • 3.0.1-4.1.0 are going to get untethered warmboot methods of launching CFW in the distant future.

What does it take to be able to edit Switch games' save files? There are save editors for popular games like BOTW, Odyssey, Splatoon etc, but most of the games don't have an editor yet. I have exported all my saves onto the PC, but will it ever be possible for me to edit them if there aren't save editor for these games?
Thanks

You can always whip out a hex editor and figure it out on your own.

So if I update now, I don't get to have untethered warmboot? Is setting up cfw complicated without that?
You will have to get "physical", like using a pin or modded joycon, which could potentially damage the pins. But I wouldn't say it's complicated.

Will there ever be a software fix for the battery desync? The battery will always desync if your backing up the nand for a hour using a rcm payload menu thing...a issue team executer hasn’t discussed about even when they have a payload sx os menu to likely backup the nand which can likely desync the battery...

Hey, I'm new here.

I'm planning on getting a Switch soon, and I want it to be as low of firmware as possible.

I know about looking at the serial number on the bottom of the box, but do you guys have any other tips?

Thanks.

In my experience finding low firmware hardware is easier on places like eBay. You might have to pay extra if the seller knows the worth of lower firmware though.

Yeah wait for an ebay sale like the 20% off they just had for Fathers Day. They have had pretty regular sales lately of like 15%-20% off. I got a 1.0.0 for $300 shipped with the fathers day sale.

Anyone know if the Switch battery depletes slower if it is powered off, instead of being put in sleep mode when not in use ?
It shouldn't...? The battery should not deplete at all if its powered off, hence the point of powering it off. I mean the battery just might very slowly deplete if not used, but that would involve weeks of disuse to even see an effect.

I have not seen any battery desync issues with RCM. If you have, please link or show them to me. The only battery problems involve Linux and Horizon tracking different battery levels.

Will Atmosphere run NTR cheats on Day 1?
I don't suppose so but the groundwork will be laid there for someone to port it.

I just wanted to know how much it depletes when powered off, if at all it does. Anyway, thanks for answering.

I have some questions regarding the easiest way to install CFW on my Switch.

I'm sitting on a 1.0.0 FW Switch right now, and as far as I'm aware (correct me if I'm wrong), my options are to either buy the japanese Puyo-Puyo Tetris, or use a hardmod, like a jig or something.

So my question is, if I'm not comfortable using any hardmod, and I want a softmod solution, is Puyo-Puyo Tetris my only choice? Will this be my only way of installing Atmosphere when it comes out, or will there be other softmod methods that work on 1.0.0?

If I recall correctly, there was a way of accessing homebrew on 3.0.0 without the use of Puyo-Puyo and without any hardmod. Will this method allow users on 3.0.0 to install Atmosphere without the use of a hardmod?

Does anyone know what will be needed to install Atmosphere once it comes out, or is that not public information yet?

Forgive the stupid questions, I'm completely confused by the myriad of terms and mods that are out there right now.

I have't seen anyone test the depletion rate while its turned off (maybe because its not very useful info but that's just my opinion). Even the numbers for sleep mode can vary depending on who you ask. You also have to account for how many charging cycles your Switch has gone through. The more times you deplete the battery and fully charge it, the smaller the battery life gets. But we don't even know by how much this gets reduced per cycle.

You need Puyo-Puyo for 1.0 because it doesn't have a browser. 3.0 can do it without Puyo-Puyo or a hardmod because of Pegaswitch which is a web-based server. There is no pure softmod solution for 1.0. However, if you don't want to buy Puyo-Puyo and don't mind doing the hardmod, you can wait for someone to convert the Fake News installer into a homebrew app or payload so you won't have to do the hardmod anymore. Fake News is the exploit that is installed via Puyo-Puyo.

I've put down the money on the Odin 2 Mini since I just love that Vita form factor. Loved the power of the Odin 2 but the size always put me off, this one seems exactly what I've been wanting.
