Highly doubtful. I don't even see SCV running well on the system. At most you'll have a Broken Destiny-style game, where its basically the same engine but graphics are downgraded and content is severely cut. The 3DS ain't powerful enough for a straight SCV port.

Heavily customised for the 3DS, perhaps?

Yeah I don't see this happening either.

"Heavily customized" meaning "we stripped like all the features and basically just gave you barebones fighting".

I mean Broken Destiny worked rather fine, but they cut so much content that it totally lacked a lot of what makes Soul Calibur excellent. Like almost nothing for single player. I know fighting games are basically for multiplayer but Soul Calibur has had rather respectable single player content. They'd probably have a similar thing for the 3DS. Cut down and not worth it.

I guess I wouldn't mind a Vita version but it's already got a huge amount of fighters for not even getting an international release. BlazBlue, UMvC3, SFxT coming soon, and probably more inevitable titles. I would enjoy a bit more diversity I guess although if it was a pure port of SCV, that'd be rather worth it (with crossplay at least).

lol No need to stress yourself out. In no way you can expect a straight on port for the 3DS, that's the only way if anyone ever wanted to see one for the system.

3DS carts can hold up to 8GB compared with the 2GB of the UMD just saying...

I'm pretty sure that they'll build it from the ground up instead. Check out the Super Street Fighter 4 port for reference. It was faithfully downgraded just like Ultimate MvC 3 was for the Vita. Honestly, why would you assume out of the gate the they're talking about a straight port anyways? I'm pretty sure every one here knows that it'll be a downgrade.

And if this is true, they should include one of the characters from Muramasa: the Demon Blade, that would be fucking epic.

EDIT: Pit as an exclusive character could work as well.

My point is that they wont cut too much (if any) content.
Of course the graphics will get downgraded

I wouldn't want a port, I'd like to see something built just for the 3DS. That's the whole reason I liked handheld gaming, the systems weren't capable of what the consoles could do so the devs went another way. That's why we have the lovely Mario Land series.

Bullshit. I doubt the 3DS con run a good SoulCalibur V port. Although it's certainly possible if they downgrade certain assets like Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition.

I would much rather see it on the Vita. That would be awesome.
While the Vita can run a more faithful port than the 3DS, it still would have to be downgraded a lot.

Resident Evil Revelations Developement started by a direct port of Re5 to the 3Ds, the 3Ds has the minumum specs.

I bet you I could port Resident Evil 5 to the PS1 if I tried. An extremely downgraded version but running nonetheless. See what I'm getting at?

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
