Hacking So is there any reason to get gateway over Sky3ds?

Sky3DS cannot play GBA games. It also cannot play eShop games, DSiWare, VC, etc.

SKY3DS can play GBA games with Pasta CFW, and it can also play Eshop with rxtools or SpoofFirmware on 4.0-9.2

Pasta CFW is not a Sky3DS feature, nor is rxTools. You can do all of those things with any hackable 3DS, no Sky3DS needed.
Most Sky3DS users are not on a hackable firmware anyway.
Really if you're already running Pasta there's no point in buying a flashcart at all.

Using Pasta CFW need a genuine Cubic Ninja game card or a SKY3DS, though its not from sky3ds but all sky3ds users can use it, buy a cubic ninja can only play one game, sky3ds values more. if some day users can play games without any flashcarts it will be the welfare for them, it's a nice job

True, but if I understand correctly GW gives you unsigned code support automatically without needing to install an exploit.

There was something about smea working on ninjhax2.0
It'll probably be based on his exploit used in regionfour, which works for >9.2
But it won't be as good as 9.2 I think

if you're over 9.2 your only choice is sky if you're on 9.2 or lower get gateway theres no if and's or but's about it, anyone who tells you otherwise is a paid drone like some of the misinformed posts in this thread.

You don't even need a flashcart to play roms anymore. Just need a 9.2 or below 3ds

rxTools, Palantine, and Pasta all support mset installation and allow cia installation.

I was even playing my Alpha Sapphire cia online using rxTools

Until Rx or Pasta gets finished and are open sourced Gateway is still the better option especially since it has New 3DS support and constantly has updates along with the funds and resources to produce said updates.

But right now if you JUST want to play 3ds games then cfw is the way to go.

No reason to buy a sky3ds when you can buy a <9.2 3ds for the same price.

This is true but RX does not work on New 3DS and Pasta does not have Emunand at the moment but I get what you're saying. Once either of them is complete and open that would be the time to drop gateway.

To be honest, I have both cards now and 2x new 3ds xl (one on 9.4, one on 9.0). I am finding gateway quite a hassle to get up and running whereas sky3ds is just plug in and boom, games are working. Having to dodge wifi due to updates is a pain for the gateway, as is booting gateway mode by having to exploit zelda / cn every time on the new 3ds. For the sake of running cias, I am starting to think it isn't worth it.

DS profile launch does exist for N3DS
i.e. You only need OOT/CN at the very beginning, then you can just boot into gateway mode by N3DS+gateway red card

Not having to press a button on the flashcart for every game cycle is pretty nice.

A friend also accidentally wiped all his save data from his Sky3ds by (I think) removing a game with diskwriter & not switching the loaded game before pulling the card out(?)
