Skinit Confirms Nintendo Switch-Safe Skins

Capture1.JPG

Following our report on the statement from drand to "not buy a skin for your Nintendo Switch", Skinit, another device accessory maker, has reached out to us in reaction to the news, confidently confirming that their skins do not damage the Nintendo Switch upon application and removal.

Below is the full quote from John Buss, GM of Skinit Acquisition, surrounding their findings:

At Skinit, we take the protection and personalization of our customers’ electronic devices very seriously. Don't let companies mislead you to think that you cannot skin the Nintendo Switch. We wanted to clear up the air and address the recent statements indicating that all Nintendo Switch device skins can tarnish the system. After thorough rounds of testing with Skinit decal skins on the production device itself, not a prototype, we can confirm that Skinit’s Nintendo Switch Skins do not damage the new Nintendo Switch in any way and you can skin the Nintendo Switch.

While other companies' skins are made with industrial quality adhesive, Skinit uses an entirely different formulation of adhesive which is more conducive to surface adhesion and removal. Skinit uses premium patented technology and adhesive to ensure we provide customers the best materials for any electronic device that won’t damage your device.

Our motto is personalized protection. We conducted rigorous tests of our Nintendo Switch Skins with the console, joy-con controllers and pro controllers and we are able to conclude that Skinit Nintendo Switch Skins are safe for Switch applications. While we can't guarantee competitor skins, we are happy to offer a 30-day, 100% money back guarantee for any Skinit customers unsatisfied with their product. Game on and make it yours.

TL;DR: Skinit performed several tests on retail Switches with their own skins and concluded that their skins are Switch-safe. This is due to the different formulation of adhesive that Skinit uses, which is more conducive to surface adhesion and removal compared to other companies' industry quality adhesive.

Below is a video-proof sent to us by the company:

This skin covers the side part of the screen, so I guess the the screen will not get scratched when it is docked.

They do! Cubs, Tigers, Rangers, Yankees, Dodgers, etc. As far as I can tell by looking, they have all the MLB teams. In multiple styles per team too.

Notice only now...same thing with the price...uff. But considere the fact that i still wait for at least Splatoon2 to come out before buy the Switch i have plenty of time to save mony and hope they ship in italy. Im not a huge fan of the MLB team, im more a NPB league fan, but i have always have a softspot for the Mets and Seattle Marines (mostly becouse Ichiro), but the skin design for the switch i really liked.

EDIT: I rea dthe description and i read that apperently this are even officialy licensed by the MLB...SWEET!

To be fair, putting stickers or skins on consoles is still degenerate, regardless of whether or not the adhesive damages the finish. :tpi:

Nothing beats the vanilla look, sorry guys, that's just the truth. I've never seen a single skin that didn't look like garbage.

Even if true, it is still nice to have that little bit of extra protection.

With the price of those plastic pictures with Elmer's glue on the back (skins), they should at least add in the functionality to rub my testicles as well.

That seems like a tough call. I assume that dbrand had issues because of the type of adhesive they used, but does that mean these other brands don't stick as well and might even peel? Maybe some of these others even leave residue. I'd rather someone else was the guinea pig for this (not that I have a Switch yet, but still) because the disparity isn't meaningless.
