If I send my new 3DSXL to nintendo with boot9strap installed, would anything wrong happen? I don't know if they will know if I installed b9s and take my new 3ds away. All that I need repaired from them is a cracked top LCD screen

If they find out you got Luma or any other hacks installed, you're SOL since they will most likely charge you with the repair.

I would try, but I don't have the correct tools and a LCD top screen for the 3DS. If I were to buy them, it would cost more for me to buy them then send it to nintendo and get them to fix it

They will flash update your 3DS with an up to date 11.4 firmware effectively removing any NAND modifications.

They'll likely detect b9s and will refuse to fix it free. Then they will charge you for repair. I got a tool set for $8, a new screen for $15. Total costs probably less than what they'll charge you.

Gonna write this again, because you're about to make a HUGE MISTAKE!!!!

They'll definitely update it and pretty much "unhack" it, and you'll be screwed. 100%. Don't do it.
With the recent ban wave I wouldn't be surprised if they also flagged the console to be banned later

Well it's both a fact that I would rather someone else repair it who has experience, and that I don't trust myself and I have no prior experience. I have tried to find stores that will repair it that are near where I live, but every store I find says that it has to be sent to the manufacturer to be fixed.

Actually I heard in most cases they just send the system back untouched. You voided your warranty by hacking it and they are no longer are required to fix or even deal with your system

With enough YouTube you can do it, just make sure you roll your lcd ribbon to make it easier to get through the hinge and that's it. I frequently replace outer plastic on O3DS screens because the lower LCD frame rubs.

Yeah, don't do that. It's pretty much a given when you mod any game console that you're waiving any further official support.

All of this is based on speculation. People have sent in modified 3ds systems before, and all Nintendo does is send the console back without repairing it. My advice, by an acekard 2i, flash luma to it, make a nand backup, format your nand, remove b9s, and send the 3ds in without the sd card. This should make the 3ds undetectable.

I wouldn't recommend this, it's easy to mess up and I bricked a 3ds that way. If you want to avoid Nintendo entirely, send it to a hardmodder, and maybe get a capture card or a hardmod in the process.

@Xdqwerty No you heard wrong, and don't believe till you experience yourself. Fallout 4 is one of my favorite games of all time. Yes it had issues early on, esp with older hardware like the xbox1, but it is awesome, esp now being 4k on Series S/X or PS5

@BigOnYa, Then i think people were talking about fallout 76

    that one was buggy too
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea you right there, fallout 76 was a letdown, but it not that bad now, they have fixed slot of issues they had at launch. Biggest issue with Fallout 76 is its a pay to advance further type of game, which sucks
