Hello,

I have created a utility that is an All-In-One save editor. It features a built in FTP client so you can pull and push your save files without needing any other software.

Currently Support Games
(Finished editors are marked in green)
  • Animal Crossing New Leaf
  • Bravely Default
  • Cubic Ninja
  • Disney Magical Kingdom
  • Donkey Kong Country Returns
  • Fantasy Life
  • Kid Icarus Uprising
  • Kingdom Hearts 3D
  • Kirby Triple Deluxe
  • LBX
  • LOZ: Link Between Worlds
  • LOZ: Majoras Mask
  • LOZ: Ocarina of Time
  • Luigi's Mansion
  • Mario & Luigi Dream Team
  • Mario Kart 7
  • Mario Party Island Tour
  • Pokemon Shuffle
  • Rune Factory 4
  • Snake Eater
  • Starfox 64 3D
  • Super Mario 3D Land
  • Super Smash Bros.
  • Tales of the Abyss
  • Tomodachi Life
  • Yoshi's New Island
I didn't want to post it until at least three editors were done, from here on you can use the programs built in update checker to see if any new editors are finished.

Instructions
  1. Double click which game you would like to edit for, games shown with a ? block are not yet finished.

  3. Copy your save locally or start an FTP server on your 3DS, fill in your devices IP, and click FTP GET.
  4. Change your desired values
  5. Click Save
  6. Now you can either copy it back to your 3DS manually or you can click FTP PUT
  7. Import the save using svdt or save_manager

Please let me know of any errors or suggestions!

I was having trouble deciding what game to do next since Donkey Kongs checksum is tough for me to crack. So I'll go ahead and check LBX out now!

Can you post your save for me; since I haven't even started my game yet it'll take me awhile to go through what I expect to be many tutorials.

Certainly! I can add any amount of games to the selectable list, but there's no promise on how quickly their editors will be finished. Some games, like Mario Party Island Tour only took half an hour. While others like Super Mario 3D Land took numerous days.

Nice. Any plans on open sourcing or at least letting other's push updates?
Also, makes me sad that none of the mario 3D land editors allow p-wings. I know I can save with one in my item slot, so ill try to RE that.

What's the hex for pwing if you're able to save it?

No open sourcing. It's done in AutoIT so it probably wouldn't be easy for others to develop in any ways.

I've never opened source any of my work, it's just not something I feel comfortable doing; along with my previously mentioned reason. If people want to contribute to the application then feel free to submit checksum solutions and hex values. If I have those then it's relatively quick for me to program them in.

I am providing a free application and it's my personal project so I shouldn't need to be required to open source it

I think people is asking you to open source it so you can fuse already existing editors with yours since you list some already advanced editor like Animal Crossing, but it's your prerogative and I respect that. I look forward to it and I encourage you to work on the games that don't have an editor yet like LBX.

I have never touched a Gateway so I don't know how they save or work. This editor works by first running svdt or save_manager to extract your save from the cartridge. If you can use svdt or save_manager to extract your save from your game inside Gateway, then I assume it would work.

For instance, a Super Mario 3D Land save should be called GameData.bin, if it's named anything else after extracting then Gateway uses a different save format.

Just for completion's sake, is there any chance of you hooking up with other, erm, devs (?) and adding their save editors to this? I know of a few out there that aren't on your list, like MH4U, SMT IV, FE:A, and EOIV, just to name a few.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
