Do you even have Homebrew? You need Homebrew to use this. Download the .3dsx zip attached to the first post, extract it, the move the "3ds" folder to root of your SD card. Access with the Homebrew Launcher.
Yep I just got it yesterday. I'm pretty familiar with the homebrew scene and have been for awhile.

Is there any way to store the save using it's title ID instead of it's name? I'm having quite a few problems with it because it keeps trying to use the game's name.

For one, Story of Seasons and Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns both show up in JKSM as "STORY OF SEASONS," making saves show up in the same folder. And even with the "Japanese Support" cia, Japanese titles basically glitch out upon re-entering the app, and if I ever want to use those saves again, I have to scan my entire list of games just to make those show up.

Making the games save via their title ID's would solve these problems, and I'm sure a few more. How can I get it to do this?

I downloaded the .3DSX zip and copied the folder JKSM with all files to my 3ds folder. When i try to start the .3DSX with homebrew launcher it tells me: "This homebrew exploit doesn't supports the running of the application under goal-titles. Please use another exploit". I use Rosalina v2.0.0.

I have the same problem
If you two are so desperate to use JKSM through the HBL instead of launching it through the CIA, then use Phalk's version of JKSM. It can be launched through Rosalina.

i made some changes to the rosalina-compatible version of jksm: https://github.com/zweilous/JKSM
these are all very minor if being compared to phalk's fork; there's no point in updating unless it specifically benefits your needs as it does mine. i'm welcome to addressing bugs, but i rarely do programming so my level of expertise is horrible : )

with that being said, if anyone knows why the indent/padding i added in the description text strings in shared.cpp appears inconsistent, let me know.

v2.0.1
  • fixed extdata id for pokémon ultra moon. exporting extdata should be fixed now
  • minor text changes

v2.0
  • jksm is compatible with rosalina thanks to phalk's fork
  • makefile is fixed thanks to deathangel74's fork
  • all files are moved from "/jksv" to "/3ds/jksm"
  • confirmation screen now appears for exporting saves
  • removed mass save restore option
  • separated savedata and extdata into different mass save backup options
  • title data, description, and topbar text color has its own new config option
  • "filter.txt" is downloaded from this repository instead of the original one
  • "b" button in main menu no longer exits; use "start" instead
  • new icon

Thank you for this wonderful utility. Useful for migrating to and from cartridge games, and it's even able to import/export virtual console sav files. Erasing cartridges is a cool feature, too.

Hello,
I was trying to transfer a .sav file from gateway to cia, but it did not go so well. I followed this guide https://gbatemp.net/threads/importing-gateway-saves-to-cia-games.425743/
but this seems to be outdated, there were no Cartridge or Cia/Sd options for me in JK save editor.
When I tried the "Browse SD for Data" option, I could navigate to the folder where my .sav file was, but when pushing Y it gave me this error message:
Somehting went wrong writing to the archive file!
Please help me how I could import my old save file. Thank you.

While I am not really sure how to transfer your old save file, JKSM is super outdated. You should use this save manager from now on: https://github.com/BernardoGiordano/Checkpoint/releases

For all those people looking for the last JK_ released CIA version (2017-02-10) which was only on a GitHub repository that seems to now be gone: there was an archive made of that repository shortly after that release which remains on the Internet Archive (though notably not the wayback machine portion the Internet Archive)

If you want the 2017-02-10 CIA download the TAR file from that link and you'll be able to extract the CIA from it with any tool (e.g. 7-zip) that can handle TAR files.

Thanks for this! Was wondering what happened when I got a dead link

Hi - I was looking to convert my Sky3DS+ save to use on a CIA installation of the same game (both dumped from my own cart). However, I'm not seeing a straightforward way to do this using Checkpoint. Am I missing something, or should I still be using this older utility? When I installed (for example) Mario Kart 7 as a cia (from the 3DS dump of my cart) I am not seeing it show up within Checkpoint to allow me to restore the save backup I made from Sky3DS+.

Edit: I figured out a workaround, posted to the Checkpoint thread as that seemed the more appropriate location.

Both should be able to dump from the cart and restore to the installed version. Maybe checkpoint doesn't allow duplicates and just shows the cart? Try without it inserted. It also wouldn't hurt to try this one at least.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
