Happy Ever17 day, everyone! Today is the day Ever17 story takes off. And for people who like to enjoy their visual novels on the go this is a good opportunity to replay this great VN. Here is a Beta patch for the PSP version of the game! This patch is based on English PC version of the game, all credit for the TL goes to people who translated the PC version.
Code:
Change log
Beta 4 - Fixed missing commas and a couple of typos.
Beta 3 - Fixed a crash in Tsugumi/Sora ending, fixed a bunch of typos, TL more UI stuff, scene names and place names
Beta 2 - Initial release

Known issues:
- On some lines, text overflows the text box. Full line is still visible in the backlog.
- Tips are not translated (and due to a lack of a translator, it is unlikely they will be translated by us, if you'd like to help, please contact us on our Discord!)

 Download link (Beta 4): https://goo.gl/CU84FL (MEGA) https://waa.ai/zvqF.zip (MediaFire) (Please do not reupload without permission!)

As far as I know X360 version is actually slightly changed up edition. You'd have to translate the parts that are different, but combining that with the original TL is going to be a giant mess so in the end you'd have to retranslate everything. If anyone is up for that, sure, we can make it work somehow.

No offense to you and/or anyone else who worked on the translation patch, but the only saving grace of it was the portability aspect. You don't exactly need a top-of-the-line PC nowadays to run Ever17, so anyone who wants to play Ever17 on a big screen should just do that. Like you said, it's not a 1:1 translation, and the work required would have very little payout.

If you able to do it, then I can pause current translation of vita game that I worked and start working little by little on it!
Because I want to do it long ago! But scripts was encrypted in files somewhere :(

And X360 version not slightly changed, it have many differences+new path+new events+3d chars

Portability is enough reason to want it. You can even play it on vita with bigger screen.

Not slightly changed. Lot of text got changed, new characters added, text sequences changed with video, etc., so it would be needed to retranslate about 40% and re-edit all other textes. Good thing is that it is quite easy to hack, but it is not worth it.

Cheap china Windows tablets will solve this problem entirely. Also in case of E17 there are VNDS mobile phone ports, so really there is no point to bring that big PSP brick with you instead of mobile in your pocket. Not like I am against that, just... weird argument.

perfect date to release this :D thank you so much (spend a lot of time working on the script a while ago to check and correct a lot of things, but could never finish it), really happy to get the chance to read it again on vita tho <3
Yes, if you would finish it before, then probably it would be released by someone else... And years ago.

To me, yeah. I just can't sit in front of a PC for hours reading a VN. It's more enjoyable to read it in bed like a book on a portable device imo
That's why I spent 90$ and bought cheap Win8.1 tablet. Now I read every VN this way and can comment on gbatemp in meantime.

Hey guys! Updated the patch to Beta 3. We have found a volunteer to translate the tips so those will hopefully be included in v1.0. As for the smaller font, there are still some issues with it, so I'll use the time it takes to TL tips to try and figure it out.

Ever17 on the 360 is an inferior game rewritten by a completely different person who was not part of the original staff. It adds a ton of deus ex machina and makes a lot of the major twists extremely blatant, including changing a specific character's outfit arbitrarily, revealing one of the biggest twists almost flat out.

The 3D models are also hilariously bad adaptations of the art. The only good thing about it is the completely redone area backgrounds and the redesign of LeMu. Otherwise it's a really bad version of the game and not worth the effort to retranslate it.

You'd do better to retranslate the original Ever17 than the 360 version, as the translation we did get was vastly inferior to the original writing and made the pacing problems far worse than in the original Japanese. Not saying you should retranslate Ever17 (although it deserves one), just that there's no point in translating the 360 version at all. There's a reason only the original version of Ever17 has been rereleased since that version came out.

To be fair, all of Uchikoshi's work has a lot of deus ex machina. In fact, in regards to Ever17:
there's a literal deus ex machina in regards to Blick Winkel.

Yes, I know Uchikoshi's work has that. But he makes it work.

The 360 version makes it *worse*. It ruins the impact of the deus ex machina that was already in Ever17. And then adds more on top of it.

Edit: Here's a compilation of all the changes in Ever17 360 compared to the original. Almost the entire game was rewritten and very little remains of what Uchikoshi created.

Hey, wow, this is really current. I'm super excited for this because I hate sitting in front of a computer to read a VN for so long.

What work remains to be done on this? Additionally, are the tools used compatible for the other two Infinity games? I'd love to see Never7 and Remember11 done at some point too. I'll even offer my help if it's not too advanced level stuff.

This is still a beta, v1.0 will come with (hopefully) TLd tips and a smaller font to fit all the lines on screen.

First of all, thank you for your hard work patching the PSP version of the game. I'm currently playing it actually and it's a blast. But I have a question in regard to another game: Could you somehow do the same for the PSP version of Never 7? This way the entire trilogy would be playable in English on the PSP.
