I have a PSP2000 with a hackable mainboard with currently 5.50 GEN-D3 CFW on it.
I want to update to the 6.61 PRO-C2 CFW.

I tried to Upgrade to OFW 6.61, the installer (EBOOT on the MS) goes through, after a reboot the power LED comes up, and goes out again.
I can go to the recovery menu, and install the same 5.50 CFW again, and that boots.
I tried to install 6.20 OFW through Hellcats recover flasher, but it has the same issue.
After the install the power led comes up for a second and then the unit switches off.

Any idea what is going on?
How can I get 6.61 CFW on the unit?
Could it be time machine install I did years ago?

Have you tried using an empty memory card after updating to OFW?

When I have no MS inserted, the power LED stays on, and the PSP does not boot.
When I enter a normal MS, the LED goes out after a second.
When I enter a magic stick the LED goes out after a second.
When I enter a magic stick and hold L+R I get into the recovery menu.
When I enter a magix stick and hold up, I get into the pandora menu (time machine).

NAND boots only CFW, and not OFW.
Any idea how to upgrade to 6.61 PRO-C2?

Does the inserted MS have anything on it when booting OFW? That might be the cause of the interference, like a version.txt file.

OK ... some news.
I think it is to do with my changed (time machine??) IPL.
Even on CFW it does NOT boot without a memory stick with some files on it.
If I insert a freshly formatted MS, it will not boot, if I reinsert the other 2 MSes (with some special files on them) it will boot.

you could try a magic memory card and I would do 2.3 me since that is meant for psps that can use ipl.

Thanx.
In the meantime I installed time machine addon for 6.61 and I am now on 6.61 ME-2.3!!
Interestingly, it also offers me to install 6.61 OFW, and I have the same behaviour there.
(No boot) But I am very happy now with 6.61 ME.
So topic solved!

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
