I’ve seen several posts all over the internet about this issue, but I’ve never seen a concrete answer as to why it happens or a solution. When I go to turn on my PSP and it hasn’t been used in a while, I have to struggle to get it to come on.
The power slider makes the green light come on, and the memory stick LED will flash for a second, but the screen stays black and it will sit for a minute until the wifi LED comes on on for a split second before the system shuts off. I have to sit through this sometimes 30+ times before it will finally turn on and act like it’s supposed to.

Once it has been turned on, it will continue to turn on and off like normal for a while with no hanging, but if I let it sit for a few days and not play it, then it suddenly has problems starting up again. I’ve tried taking the battery out and putting it back in, as well as the memory stick, but neither stop the issue from persisting. My games and data are all intact, nothing is corrupted, it just struggles to turn on and off for some reason. And this is with OR without CFW installed.

sounds like bad capacitors to me.
they drain when the system is not used and if they're about to give up, they're not taking/holding power like they're supposed to.

Damn, so I guess I’m boned? Do PSP capacitors typically go bad? I’ve seen other posts with similar issues.
