PPSSPP Switch Beta Release

PPSSPP/Libretro Switch Public Beta by m4xw
==========================================

After a lot of work, I am very happy to share this with all of you.
Audio & Video support works, many core options cause Issues tho.

It is mandatory to "Close Content" after changing any Core option and restarting RetroArch, else it will potentially crash, don't close the RetroArch menu!

Special thanks to hrydgard for everything he has done for the PPSSPP Project.
If you want to support his work, consider buying PPSSPP Gold https://central.ppsspp.org/buygold even if you don't use it!

I will PR it once the libretro port is finished, also implemented half of what's needed for a Standalone port ;)
Source is on my Github, but it's highly WIP and needs a custom RA and a custom ffmpeg, so you should just wait if you want to build it yourself ;)

Libretro Docs (important informations for this core):
https://docs.libretro.com/library/ppsspp/
Official Game Compatibility Tracker (your mileage might vary): https://report.ppsspp.org/games

GitHub (WIP Switch): https://github.com/m4xw/ppsspp/
GitHub (Official): https://github.com/hrydgard/ppsspp

Installation Instructions
==========================================

Drag & Drop the "retroarch" folder to the root of your SD, overwriting any file (it will not touch any options).
Assets are bundled, so you don't have to bother with that.

Notes
==========================================

If you are using ANY method of loading RetroArch OTHER than Atmosphere's title redirection feature, DO NOT report issues that you encounter.
These issues can skew testing and could very well be caused by loading through an unsupported method.

Video slowdowns are related to missing hardware accelerated decoding (nvdec), it's not a libretro/PPSSPP Issue.
FMV cut-scenes will be fine.

Updates
==========================================

Added JIT and JIT Vertex Decoder Support
- When loading Savestates with JIT, make sure to instantly open the RetroArch Menu again and wait for it to complete loading
- This is a libretro specific bug (not switch port related) and will be fixed later on

==========================================

-Added Vertex JIT Core option (turning it off fixes some games currently)
-Added Disable slow Framebuffer effects Core option (Speedhack)
-Increased Savestate Chunk size to 4MB (speeds up savestate load, ~2sec)
-Band-Aid for Savestate load + Save (no more opening menu for them to work)
-Renamed "IR JIT" to "IR Interpreter"
-Removed Threaded IO Core option (non-functional)
-Removed Non-Buffered Rendering Core option (non-functional)
-General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience.

I got that latest version but it crashes playing Fate/Extra CCC on the same point, wether I load a Save State or a savefile through the game.
Is there any update to the last package? Last PC version, 1.16.6 works on that same point.

Here is the savestate just in case.

EDIT: If I try to load a savestate from then next part that loads after this, I get a Failure at MetaFileSystem.

Do you use any textures pack for CCC?
I downloaded the texture pack and after that game not opened. Opening screen had frozen only if I tried the open with texture pack. Don't use any texture pack for CCC.

I playing CCC with 3 hours now and happened minimum issues. Kiara's SG screen slow and that's it. I recommend change some settings to faster options(if there are). I have a vita/psp but I prefer to play nintendo because switch has bigger screen, TV option and almost HD graphics.

kbm, also you can put to psp game folder fate ccc's japanese version too. Both are works with the same same file. If english version crashed in the specific scene, you can load japanese version and after the passed the scene just save it and turn the english version.
It's a problem about modded scene issue in this game. I passed with that way. Also you have to use normal save, you can use quick save on emulator because it doesn't working correctly to switch.

Cant get the latest version thats posted here to work, its always stuck on a black screen. The older version thats up on app homebrew app store works fine though
Ive just came across this, I fixed this version by running the the nro from "switch/PPSSPP_GL/" (Holding R), then exit out, FTP in and move all the files from the "PPSSPP_GL" folder the the new "ppsspp" folder.

Fresh rebase from today https://m4xw.net/nextcloud/index.php/s/nPGgziiQmB6YH4L
Also implemented keyboard (ingame & text fields) and resolved a bunch of other issues.
If things go well i make a proper release bundle tomorrow & throw it on the ppsspp website
Hey which is the latest build. Is it the one you linked in this post or the one on the website?

Yours looks to be build 1.14-69, while the website lists it as 1.9 & 1.9.3+:

    yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
    @TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
    I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    @Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
