if everyone agrees, i can make a super N00B Tutorial on How To Patch Pokemon HG/SS.
I mean, im getting tired of reading the same problems again and again, and i dont think that the problem is " oh the site loads so slow". You're just a bunch of lazy people.

as for anyone having trouble. try making one folder, put the patch in there.the rom in there. should work fine.

I have tried to patch the rom without changed it's name first to xpa-phg or xpa-pss
it works fine to me
the most important thing is you must put all necessary files and the rom in one folder [ make a new folder ]
if you have done so, I think there won't be any problem while patching the rom

...Maybe it's not loading so fast because you're refreshing it so much, dumb dumb.

And yes, just putting the ROM in the same folder as the patch and whatever patching tool you're using should work. If that doesn't work, then you're computer just can't do it.

hey there,
Is the patch going to translate the whole game or is it only going to translate a few certain things from the game?
I looked at the main post and it doesn't say whether character texts is going to be translated or not.

Quick update: It seems Ace Trainers and Gym Leaders can't have names over 5 characters... I've yet to confirm this, but that's what it seems like.

I've done this as well. No luck. I even put it on the root of a flash drive that was pretty much empty beforehand. No luck there either.

Guess I have to face facts. I can't use this patch for some unknown reason.
I'm thinking it's either a bug with xdelta (there is one bug currently unsolved dealing with "too many filenames") or the batch file is not properly written (no offense).

you're not using a clean, fresh extracted rom...

Freshly extracted: same problem.
And it's verified clean using NDSHeader

EDIT: Placed necessary files on Desktop. Same problem.

try throwing in everything to C:/ root (Patch+rom) if it doesn't work, then ur computer is broken =\

Then keep it Japanese, I'd hate it to see weird short versions of the names =/

I am currently having a problem where I can't save with this patch. When I save it says "saving a lot of data" like if I just used the pokebox and it stays like that for a long time... Not so sure what the problem is. Tried deleting the old save file and play the game through but same problem still persist.

Still wouldn't patch on the C: root. Running a virus scan right now, though I doubt I have a virus.

EDIT: I was able to get the game patched using Kazo's patch, so it's definitely some problem with xdelta (since Kazo's patch uses NDSTool instead of xdelta).

if you're on vista/seven, change the batch and xdelta priorities so they run under adminsitrator previleges, then try again patching on C: root =)

Hello, I just wanted to point out that All of Nurse Joy may not be translated. When My first pokemon was fainted and I went to the pokecenter, after healing, it said something about My first pokemon in japanese before it finished handing them back to me. I don't know if it is something Nurse Joy says, or whether or not it is just telling me my first pokemon is going to be the one following me instead of the one next in line. Just wanted to let you know, in case it is her.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
