Hi,
This tutorial will help you to play legit cias (and only legit cias) without a 3ds flashcart.


I With PBT-CFW (Sysnand):

1. Start the cfw and install the legit(s) cia(s).
2. Backup your sd content.
3. Get the gateway launcher.dat, put it on your sd card, go to the gateway menu and select "format emunand"
4. Update the created emunand, for that you can use :
- rxTools (compatible with go gateway app)
- or the mt-card launcher.dat : https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-4-5-sysnand-4-5-cfw-9-4-emunand-without-gateway.378721/ (part1, you don't need to do the steps 3 and 5 again). It works with the DS Exploit, but it's buggy on 9.5 (doesn't work anymore since the 9.6 update).
5. Restore your sd-card contents.
6. Start the updated emunand with rxTools, and enjoy.

If you want to add new legit cias after that :
1. Install them on your sysnand
2 . Backup your sysnand's ticket.db with rxTools then inject it in the emunand.

II With Palantine CFW (RedNAND):

1. Download this pack : http://jheberg.net/captcha/3ds-dualnand-v05-3/
2. Start the cfw and install the legit(s) cia(s).
3. Backup your sd content.
4. Go to the 3ds-dualnand_v0.5 folder and run 'Extract emuNAND 1.bat' as admin.
5. Then run 'Inject emuNAND 1.bat' as admin.
6. Finally run 'Inject RedNAND 2.bat' as admin. Be careful, this will format your sd card without your confirmation.
7. Restore your sd-card contents and replace your current boot.bin with the one in the 3ds-dualnand_v0.5.
8. You have now two emunands on your sd card : a normal emunand you can use with rxTools and the cfw redNAND. Use rxTools to update the first one.
9. Start the updated emunand with rxTools, and enjoy.


If you want to add new legit cias after that :

1. Install them with the cfw
2. Connect your SD Card to your PC
3. Go to the 3ds-dualnand_v0.5 folder and run 'Extract emuNAND 2.bat' as admin.
3. Run 'Inject emuNAND 1.bat' as admin.
4. Re-update your emunand with rxTools

Or

3. Backup your rxTools emunand with emunand tool

do the dual nand.. install legit XYORAS and SSB on CFW then switch on rxemunand to play XYORAS and SSB.. i have dual nand right now and i play XY on rxemu when i got bored i switch back to CFW to play resident evil

I let go of the CFW/Rxtools duo ! I just wanted to play pokémon online. That's what I did on my 4.5old3DSXL :

- installed GW
- updated emunand to 8.1 thanks to Smash bros rom
- installed legit Alpha Sapphire CIA thanks to dev menu
- imported my Alpha Sapphire save thanks to savedatafiler (and deleted the secure value)
- installed RxTools on the 8.1 GW emunand (no dual nand, directly on the gw emunand)
- updated to 9.4 RXEmunand
- updated pokémon through the eshop
- finally enjoyed battling online

I did this on a 32gb card but copied all of it on a smaller one (4gb, just enough to have the pokémon game and a few eshop games)

I think it's easier that way (for me, at least). I'll have a 4gb card with pokémon on rxtools and an other 32gb card on which i'll install the palantine CFW for non-legit cia

So you have 2 SD cards? one for CFW and one for RX EMU to play pokemon games and legit .cia? I think this is easier. so that you dont have to switch files from time to time if you want to play pokemon. Just switch cards and your good to go :-)

I have the dual nand mod working perfect but when i go to install new clean cia and reinject everything the same way i did the first time none of the clean cia show up
i have mario kart installed first and works fine online but cant get new cia to show up in rxemunand

any help would be great i have tried the first page on how to install new clean cia but its a no go but still have mario kart

You have to run "Extract Emunand 2" (to extract the cfw rednand) and not "Extract Emunand 1" then run "Inject Emunand 1".

It should work if you delete the secure value.



Did you replace it after or before the inject rednand 2 part ? The order is important.

i have the same problem just as

" But, when I use my blue GWcart to install the gwinstaller.nds, when I launch the ds profile, which is supposed to launch the cfw, the screen is always blue, this doesn't work, even after a few tries. When I wanna switch to rxtools, I install back the rxinstaller.nds with the blue cart and all works ok !"

and i replace the boot.ini after inject rednand 2 part, according to your tutorial .
now I can't get in CFW, pls help me!

I using this for Palentine CFW, but when I try to extract Emu it states 'error opening physical drive', have I done something wrong or do I need to configure the settings for the tools
