Original Xbox softmod

Is there a way to softmod an original Xbox? I'm trying to do it for my cousin(who is poor) as it would make him a great christmas gift. And he can't pay for a modchip, so there's only the softmod way to go. Any guides someone could point me to?

there is definitely a softmod for the original.... I just can't remember how to do it any more... google should get you there in a jiffy though..... good luck
