Nintendo have just confrmed that the launch of the Switch and sales of Zelda are the largest in Nintendo's history, for both hardware and software.

We can confirm that, across Europe, Nintendo Switch sold more in its launch weekend than any other Nintendo hardware in history.

Launch title The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has not only been bestowed with some of the highest review scores in gaming history, it's also the biggest-selling Nintendo launch title ever in Europe, even outselling Wii Sports in first weekend sales.

And all this in March – traditionally a quiet time for the games industry.

The Joy-cons can do everything the Wii motes can and - most importantly - they can do far more. The wiimote's ir sensor cannot detect hand movements, for example.

After 11 years, come on? Do you really believe that is enough to justify the price?

The differences are plain to see, but you're intent on your confirmation bias either way. Shield TV isn't a portable/hybrid, doesn't have its own screen. Shield TV is larger than Switch in length and width. Shield TV runs Android, which is a pretty poor OS for gaming. I've said it before, $250 is the minimum Nintendo could've sold Switch for at launch and made a small profit. $300 is definitely reasonable. There's no complaint about Switch's pricing that couldn't also be made about PS4/XB1, so the whole thing is pretty much moot.

And the tech in joy cons is almost entirely different from the tech in wiimotes, not to mention much newer, so there's no sense comparing them. Joy cons aren't even half the size of wiimotes, so of course their boards have to be smaller, but smaller does not somehow equal worse. That's stupid, don't be stupid.

Care to source your claims other than more excuses like bias? Switch replacement screen/generic. Any, so we have an idea of the price.

Yes, that controller is overpriced despite:

• Dual vibration feedback
• Stereo headphone jack for private audio

If you dig up more on the controller, it seems to use Wifi to stream the audio, which the joycon lacks. Also "with a battery that lasts over 60+ hours", joycons is 20 hours, so better battery too.

How the fuck would you know? Prices always go down with time. And who the hell cares anyway? You expect monster performance but you're whining about $50. You can buy a $2000 gaming laptop for high resolutions on the go, but guess what? That's still like four times the size of Switch, at a minimum. There are trade-offs to everything.
