It's Gamescom time and to kickstart things, Nintendo of Europe has announced the New Nintendo 3DS XL Super Nintendo Entertainment System Edition! You might recall that a Japan-only system under the name Super Famicom New Nintendo 3DS LL with a similar design was released last year. While it did make the rest of the world drool for a year, it's coming to the west sooner than you think!

Designed after the original SNES, this sexy edition of the New 3DS XL will be available this October 13th!

Unless Nintendo changes the bootroms of future models (unlikely since that's expensive and the 3DS is nearing EOL in a year or so, and they didn't do so with the New 2DS XL), it will be hackable from day 1, hour 0, minute 0, second 0, via ntrboothax. DSiware (via system transfer) and hardmods are also valid options. There's no reason to assume this one is any more difficult to hack.

I've grown up with the SNES as my first console and I L-O-V-E-D the shit out of it. This is definitely the N3DS to have for me. I have the extremely unrealistic hope that it'll have IPS panels, which would make it perfect. One can still dream...

Regardless, I preordered it, just to compare if I take it or just stick with my N3DS Ambassador Edition, which is also quite fancy, but also doesn't have IPS panels.
