I was born in the late 70's ....os my view maybe different than yours .......As for me , if I couldn't get for free , I wouldn't have downloaded it ....so thats not really stealing or piracy as far as Im concerned...... besides I thought piracy was taking something and then changing it enough to call it your own , to paraphrase bill gates in the movie (pirates of silicon valley)

Well for me, I picked "its not piracy , or stealing ,its copying."

I was brought up with copied games. Some of my fondest memories as a child are loading up some "borrowed" C64 games that my dad had gotten from a friend. The video game industry is a cutthroat business. Companies come and go all the time. Create good games and you'll survive longer than the others regardless of whether or not your product is being "pirated". If it wasn't for the quantity over quality attitude that a lot of companies have adopted, I wouldn't "copy" nearly as much as I do. If it's good, you're damn right I'll go out and buy it.

well , as for me , I only download because I can , not that I really want it or need it ... I wasn't born with a pc in the house , that happend years later when I was in high school .....so I wanted to gage what all the people on here think......when I was growning up the bootlegs of movies looked like crap , so we would borrow the bootleg from a friend , then I realized , I hate bootlegs , but you kids now a days , have no idea just how good you have it

I pretty used to buying/downloading pairated games and dont even feel guilty at all

since my parents always bought us pairated games for PSX...and besides,my FUCKING country sells original games for double the price!!

Would I be crazy to buy Sonic the Hedgehog for the Xbox 360 for 85$ (yes 85$ im not kidding here)? NO THANK YOU!!

I actually pirate very few DS games, the ones that I really like I go out and buy and so far that's totalled to about 15 games. Not really a great sign considering how many have been released! I've got a few copies of GBA games but I've also got a pretty hefty collecton of originals.

I've got a collecton of SNES originals but I've also got a couple of shoe boxes full of floppies for it - although it includes backups of my originals. I've copied the ones that are just too hard or too expensive for me to get, I've got a bunch of translations and unreleased betas and protos which you can only get through roms, and I've got a load that are there just because. Like I've bought the original Final Fight but pirated the rest type thing.

Same for the Saturn. I've got about 40 originals, but around 120 copies. The 40 originals are included in the copies but some Saturn games are either impossible to find nowadays or just way too expensive. Again same as the SNES the copies also include unreleased betas and promos and the fan translated Shining Force 3 Scenario 2.

I've got a few pirated games for the Dreamcast but again it's mostly hard to find or overly expensive ones.

My 360 isn't flashed so all my games for it are originals.

My copier for the Megadrive is dead but I do have a collection of discs including unreleased protos (Hardwired FTW!) and betas and some of the hard to find games. I do want to grab another one though.

I've got a pretty big collection of C64, Atari ST (Was Not Was/LSD/Automations disks) and Amiga pirates from the days when I was trading them but again I've also got a large collection of originals for them.

My Gamecube ain't chipped so they're all originals and all my Gamegear games are originals.

Ooops, also forgot to mention that all my N64 games are originals but I wouldn't mind a V64/CD64 for it as there's some pretty rare stuff I want but can't afford and there's a few unreleased games that have now seen the light of day. (Thanks dinofan for reminding me with your post!)

I can't say I can pick just one. Well I am from the 90s but its not all I know, I mainly pirate DS and music. If I pirate a Wii game its only cuz I wouldn't have bought it anyways. I dont pirate for my 360. For DS I pirate mainly cuz I wouldn't be able to buy it cuz of funding since there are WAY to many good DS games for me to buy. But I must admit there is once in a while a game I would have bought for the DS that I pirated like Phantom Hourglass and GTA. Thats why I'm vowing to buy scribblenauts rather then pirate. But for music I really don't have the money to see If I like this album or that album. Music IMO is pointless to read reviews since people taste vary so widely. Every now and then i'll pirate a movie but I will either buy the DVD later when it releases or they just aren't available like old monster movies. Yeah I guess that it.

Oh and I forgot to mention I only started pirating a few years ago. My cube and N64 collection are all me.

So if I don't have money I can't have food.

So basically I'm cheap.
But if stuff wasn't that easily available I would have mad some purchases (The last game I actually bought was Diablo 2 (when it came out), never bought a DVD and as for consoles I bought my PS2(with modchip) and DS(with R4) knowing I can get all games for free.

Seriously, I download things because I can. I'm buying lots of things after I've already downloaded them, though. However, I own over 200 videogames for various systems and well over 250 DVDs, so I don't think I'm that cheap.

I would buy the games if I could get them for their original value.But the importers who distribute the games here cheat us and and adds about 50-100$ extra charge on the game!That's just bullshit

I do buy games online but not too frequently since I dont have a credit card.
IMHO,it's not eh pirates,it's the stupid arrogant and greedy distributers that cheat people of their money that's destroying the gaming industry!

totally agreed with this as well. Some of the games are really expensive like Last Remanent, come on, u expect me to believe that this game cost 95 bucks( and yes, i freaking bought it at this price... the other stores were selling it at 105 and around that amount.. )

I pirate because good games never arrived in our country, i am still searching for black sigil and yes, i know its buggy, but so what, if its nice i buy it.

Just like a couple of my PC games, but darn is it expensive, one PC game cost me at the very least 69.90(Megaman X5 comes to mind, i hate u popular...) .

Still waiting for tales of monkey island as well.

But seriously, why the F*%$ are you asking us this? When u know full well just why, some of us can't get the games and unless they pirate it they will never know the existence of them.. and shovelwares shall be all that we known of, if this happens.

As for others, it come be that living expenses like food and bills are more important and their budget is being scratched till the very end, and i know just how that feels, these few weeks, i have to choose skip a few meals since i do not have the budget required to substained lunch and dinner outdoors
