I heard if you format sysnand then you won't have a problem entering data management. I will probably install a small cia to test this theory.

Ah, so I formatted sysnand when I removed my card after I formatted emunand, I think I should be cool but I wont touch it regardless, sysnand is useless now

It seems to be a problem to FW 8.1J. Other than that 3.1.1 probably fixes the bug for other versions.

DON'T update your emunand now. GW hasn't came up with support for the latest 9.6 FW.

Use emunand tool to format on a smaller card and then inject it onto a larger card. It worked for me, not sure about 8.1j though,

I think the problem with 8.1J is emunand 8.1J can't select multi rooms.. It needs to be updated to 9.4 with majora's mask(japan).

If you have a sky3ds then you can update the emunand to 9.4. 8.1J is basically useless..

I do not have a Sky3ds, so I guess I have to wait until 9.6 is supported, or I play a bit with NTR Debugger to update my sys nand to 9.2 and create a new emu nand from there.

Rakuten.co.jp, via an agent (shoppingmalljapan). But it was not cheap, when you can understand japanese, use tenso (less service costs). My n3ds came from amazon.co.jp with tenso.

All in all I paid roughly 50USD with express shipping (3 days).

Yes, that is likely more feasible. But the Cubic Ninja copy itself was just 25USD, which seemed cheap at first, service + shipping is what makes it expensive .

But now I have it, and atleast the cartridge is not blockable, maybe thats worth something in the future.

I dug through my cupboard today and dusted off my sealed-box new 3DS i've had for a while, and set it up for Gateway today. I didn't even know you had to remove the plastic cover at the back to get to the SD card and also was unaware n3ds uses micro SD The more you know.

Updating 8.1J to 9.2J with NTR and yifan-lu's method works great. I can help you with the server parts of it if you want since I have it all setup from doing mine.
