He wants to play Counter Strike and has an $800 budget.

Maybe you don't know what a budget is. It's how much he can spend and still afford to eat.

Don't even think about the 8800GT. The 9600GT is the new top of the line mid range.
This is incorrect. The 8800GT still outperforms the 9600GT at virtually everything.

Perhaps he should generate more money and get a real machine.

Same thing Sony said.

If you can't afford the PS3, you should get a better job!

Hopefully the mods will be here soon enough to ban you.

I have done nothing against the rules so no, they won't come to ban me.

And seriously, if you can't afford a $600 console, you need a better job.

Since when was the 8800GT a mid range card?
I was under the impression that it was a low-high end card.

Honestly, card classification is irrelevant. Price is how you should categorize cards, and they're in the same range.

I agree but you do realise that when the 8800GT was first released, prices were +$300
Now the 9600GT has just been released and its in the same range, I'm sure it'll drop soon.
Getting cards when they just come out seems like somewhat of a waste to me, they're highly priced and no one knows of any issues it might have in the real world.

Except he's buying his computer now, not three months ago, and not three months in the future.

QUOTEIs the 9600GT DX 10.1?

I was thinking of playing "light" games. Like maybe Counter Strike Source. And even if its a gaming desktop,i want alot of storage. And even if it has a bad Video card, il mostly be playing CS or go around forums, myspace, etc.

What are we arguing about videocards for?
Get a cheap mid-range card/low high-range, that'll give you everything you need.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814150275 8800GS 384MB for $130 after mail in rebate.

Because he's better off with a good video card regardless of what he uses his computer for.

This is what I just bought. Great performance for the price, but the fan is quite loud.

Thanks everyone. I dont really care if the fan is loud. So unless its going to destroy my Motherboard, i dont care how loud a fan is.
And:
The COOLER MASTER Centurion
Im not buying the other "flashy" desktop for the lights. Mostly for the Space. Its bigger then the COOLER MASTER Centurion.

So is:

A good deal? $149.99 but $20 mail in rebate. So $129.99
