Hacking Netplay in Emulators?

So how possible would this be to accomplish, me and my friend were talking about all these snes games we used to love to play together but since i moved away, we cant really play. i mean, we tried snes9k and zsnes but they always seem to give us problems (desyncs way to much or he just doesnt get how to do it right)
anyways i'd thought i'd ask. who knows, theres the wii speak mic now so maybe voice chat could also be possible

what do you guys think?

Everything except the n64 and mame emulators are fantastic.
