For those that remember, media streaming giant Netflix announced that they would be making an original animated series based on Konami's Castlevania series. And today, we got a first look thanks to a teaser trailer posted by the Latin American Netflix Twitter. The 40 second long trailer is action packed, leading up to the reveal that the show will be available on July 7.

Inspired by the classic video game series, Castlevania is a dark medieval fantasy following the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself. The animated series is from Frederator Studios, a Wow! Unlimited Media company, written by best-selling author and comic book icon Warren Ellis and executive produced by Warren Ellis, Kevin Kolde, Fred Seibert and Adi Shankar.

I knew that studio name was familiar, Frederator did a bunch of Nickelodeon shows. It looks really good, I guess a Last Airbender looking style, though they weren't involved with that series. The shows I know they were involved in, Fairly OddParents and My Life As A Teenage Robot, so some pedigree. Trailer's nice.

It was said Frederator was working on a Castlevania animated series back in 2015. Later there were rumors of Nick working with Frederator on a Nintendo based property. Then Netflix announced a Castlevania animated series. I wonder if this was originally supposed to be on Nick but they ended up passing due to content issues?

From the trailer, it seems it may be based on Castlevania III, damn that game is hard! O_O

Well time to reactivate my netflix again, hope is worth the $10 for the month. I just hope it has some epic music like the game.
