My online experience has been a mixed bag. Lag destroys most of the enjoyment of the online races, as people are never quite where they look like they are on your screen. It's not a constant thing, but it does seem to happen when you're needing it to. Aim is impossible, so online strategy revolves around laying traps rather than throwing bombs. Doesn't change too much for most people, but it is frustrating to finish in "1st", then have it change to "3rd" when the result board pops up.

Offline is amazing though. Loads of fun, difficulty is nice, and each cart and character have a different feel to them. I use to be a light character racer before, but have found mid-light are much better for me in this iteration.

Use a USB-LAN adapter and your lag issue is solved. The CPU is either perfect or a total asshole (i.e, all hitting you with items unexpectedly) and it's called a kart, not a cart.

Not my lag, my connection is strong and fine. And I'm talking about throwing bombs at people, them exploding it, and not slowing down. Watching them fall off a cliff, then appear ahead of me not missing a beat. And even if it looks like I hit someone, they just appear further ahead like they weren't hit at all. Doesn't happen all the time, just enough to be extremely frustrating.

That's really odd as it never happened to me, although I'd always play on Dynamic Cup which is the best and most balanced place to play online.

I gave up on the 'normal' online racing matches because there wasn't any fairness of items between the players.

yea i've seen this happen more than once, they need to patch the online game also fix the drop in frame in the main game. i doubt they will.

Just because it's affecting like a few people out of a million Nintendo shouldn't be wasting their time with that, heck, they should be releasing more vehicles and stages 'cause the replay value of it runs short after a while.

If you go ask on Miiverse if anyone's got any problems with the game it'll probably be 1/1000 and it's not really something Nintendo should be wasting their time with. Hell, the problems are probably on yours ends rather than the game itself because if the majority is playing it flawlessly what makes you think it's the game at fault?

Solution:
- Buy a USB LAN adapter.
- See if your internet speed is at a decent speed to avoid lag.

Mario Kart 8 has sold two million copies but that's because it's a popular series whereas Wonderful 101...

Again, being ever so dismissive of a problem you don't personally have.
And again, USB Lan adapter, speed tested, the problem is not on my side.
And again, it's how the game handles those who do have lag.
And again, you shouldn't just assume that's the case. As mentioned previously, it's not an every race thing, but it happens often.

Usually it's just one particular racer in a race, sometimes more than one (but not the others). What can Nintendo do about it? who knows. Maybe nothing. But it's worth talking about and you shouldn't just dismiss it as if it doesn't exist. That sort of stick-your-head-in-the-ground thinking doesn't help anyone.

Any help/tips on how to clear Lightning Cup on Mirror Mode? My setup is Rosalina with Varmint bike and Button wheels. I've completed 99% of the game with that setup, including three stars in every cup from 50cc to 150cc and all of Mirror Mode except the Lightning Cup. The first three races are fine, I always get in 1st place, but then I always somehow end up as 6th or even later in Rainbow Road N64.

Even with the startup boost I only get to 2nd or 3rd, no matter how carefully and precisely I drive and drift, jumping on every possible section of the track to get extra boosts, the CPU players just seem impossibly hard to compete against. My luck with items has also sucked, no matter what position I'm in, I get a single mushroom at best, but usually it's a banana or a coin. Because the track is so short, by the time I've made my way up back to 2nd place, the race is over. I just can't seem to get 1st no matter how hard I try.

I thought the other Rainbow Road (from the Special Cup) was hard, but it took me only a few tries on Mirror Mode to complete that in 1st place. There doesn't seem to be any shortcut either, so is it just luck or should I try another setup? Really like my current one and have a good feel with it. Thanks!

(Sorry of this question was made before this post)
Hi, only to know, somebody thinks Nintendo will fix the 59fps bug? I know, it's 1 fps, but in some site I read this caused some graphics bugs (or something like that), will Nintendo fix this? or they will ignore it because the normal users don't pay attention to that?

Well, I didn't notice it, I tried the time trial to know how it works in 60fps, but it's the same for me, we will know if the update fix the issue, if nobody says nothing, probably it's working the same.

From Digital Foundry:

"Upon analysis we determined that the game suffers from extended clusters in which a duplicate frame is displayed every 64 frames. What this ultimately means is that, during normal gameplay, Mario Kart 8 continually drops down to 59fps. This may not seem like a big deal - most will probably not notice it at all, and it has zero affect on playability"

Yes, I cherry picked that quote.

Well, from what I've heard from my parents, he had a seizure last night, perhaps an epileptic episode, fucking died, had a near death experience, my dad called the paramedics, they showed up, took him to the hospital, and he woke up covered in tubes, and started complaining.
