Adventure book port

Posted here as I can not seem to get it to work on cart or on an emulator (black screen).

Michoko over at dev-fr has posted a port of Lone Wolf to the DS (some of you may have recently played the Hyena audiobook player which has the first book as a demo title). Again only the first book is available.

I am super-impressed with this. Very slick and really enjoyable. I thought about doing something like this myself with the Fighting Fantasy books but couldn't begin to fathom coding it! I'm really glad that someone with the talent has decided to do this. I'm off to give the guy a donation in the hopes that he keeps up the good work.

i didnt like the fact that if you make 1 mistake you have to start all over and that you need to choose all that skills stuff

@ Michoko - you're welcome but don't spend it all at once!

I played a lot more of this last night and I really do think you're on to something. The presentation goes along way to flesh out an idea that could've fallen on its face. It really does feel like your playing an old school gamebook but without the hassle of using dice, pencils, rubbers and paper! Compact and bejous.

The only thing I would change is once you bring up the map you have to press the A button. Maybe you could have a 'Back' icon in one of the corners or even use right on the D-pad to bring up and cancel the map in the same way that you press left to bring up your Character Sheet. I really hope that you continue to work on this and put out more adventures...

PS: I pointed this out to a guy who helps run a really good Podcast here in the UK and suggested that he try to interview you - I hope you don't mind!

There are two videos up on youtube now (one was mine) that demonstrates this app a little, really I'd encourage anyone who has a method of playing homebrew to try this out (I had run mine through the DLDI patcher to get it to work with my Supercard SD.)

This sounds amazing, i loved the FF game books as a kid but I think I only ever tried the one lone wolf book (enjoyed the hell out of it but was the only one in library) thanks for making this Michoko

Hi all !
I have an "M3 Perfect Lite" (this is an SD Slot-2 linker) and I don't manage to make it works.
I have tried with and without patching it width DLDI but I still have the same problem.
When I launch the game, the two screens become black and it flicks white less than one second.
Does anyone hase the problem or knows how to solve it ?

Version 1.0 is now available!

Here is the changelog:

2008/03/09: Version 1.0
- Fixed a nasty bug that was not flushing inventory correctly when you were restarting a new game,
causing various strange behaviours when trying to pick items (thanks Raion!)
- Fixed a bug causing Gold to increase regularly, and limited the number of crowns to 50.
- Fixed a loading saved game bug which was not restoring all events properly (thanks Kirsty!).
- Fixed several sections events
- Smoothed and improved map scrolling using the stylus.
- Fixed a bug where "Previous/Next" buttons were staying in black & white after dying.
- You can't no longer pick/unpick the "Weaponskill" discipline and roll a random number each time.
- You can't drop and lose the map now.
- Various other small fixes and improvements.
