Does anyone know where I can get a reliable, relatively inexpensive KSM-440ADM laser assembly for an original Playstation? I bought one for $10 on eBay and when it arrived, the spindle motor dragged. I got refunded that and got another $10 one from [supposedly] a different seller, but the items both shipped out of the same city in New Jersey, so... Anyway, that one the spindle motor wouldn't even turn! I got refunded that one. I was able to pry the platter up just a hair and get it to work until I can get a better one, but it still sounds pretty rough.
Surely one of you fine guys and gals have secret source for these that you can share with me?
