Hey there,

I have been away from the vita scene for a while. I have noticed now, its getting pretty exciting with HENkaku and vitamin.

I am currently on 3.18 with TN-V and tekken 2 for playing playstation 1 games at full speed with sound.

Is it best to stay on this firmware or update to 3.60 for HENkaku?

What are the advantages and disadvantages?

I still prefer 3.18 right now. I won't give up PSX and PSP so I'm waiting for those before I upgrade. The new emulators that can run on the Vita instead of the PSP emu are nice though!

3.18 has native PSP and PS1, 3.60 can play a majority of vita dumps, its not perfect yet and some dont work etc. If you prefer PSP and PS1 games then stay on 3.18.

I was on 3.35 with ape escape and every psp game i loved....then i manually updated to 3.60 for two reasons

1. VITAMIN!!!!!! now i can dump my games and slap them on my card so no more swapping game carts on a long trip

2. You can either buy a psp go which is actually pretty cool and can be paired with a ps3 controller and hack that easily or buy a psp if you cant wait for a epsp exploit (I have used a psp since 2005)

My two cents OP is that with a vita kernel hack we are closer to being able to more safely take the vita firmware apart and understand it
Its only a matter of time before the epsp side is cracked into a custom bubble and from that point we just need some sort of emulated nand to keep updating behind sonys back or rewriting and upgrading of certain parts of the firmware to allow online play

Advantage of 3.60 and Henkaku
1.Currently you can access the PSN Store on 3.60 and play games online either vpks or real carts (may be patched by sony next time)
2. You can dump those purchased games to make sure you never lose them
3. Emulators are now running on the vita not epsp
4. Vita games are kick ass and has revived my love for the unit

Advantages of 3.18
1. Has a kernel exploit! (that no one is working on so....)
2. psp/psx
3. ummmm...........sony wont see you playing vpk games from out of your region or potentially ban you for online play (pure speculation as of now no confirmed bans)

Atleast if you stay on 3.60 from today on you may lose psn access but you gain so much more when so many people are on 3.60 vs 3.18 and how 3.60 is being developed for means its likely the most stable exploit and will receive more stable things and attention

I eventually had to contact a domestic abuse advocate to help me get out of the apartment I was in a lease with her. And filed a restraining order on her cuz she kept harassing me after i left her.

I cant justify $1k+ on a nice ass phone. I can spend that on a 75" tv screen. Why a 6" screen device cost me the same? lol

I had a iPhone 5 for like 6 years, till last year, and had to get new phone, when phone companies stop using the cdna networks, which the iphone5 used.

Nah a phones going to always be more powerful than a TV if the TVs $2grand maybe but why when I can put a smaller device in my pocket that does basically everything a TV already does

I can justify a decent $800 smartphone that'll last 3 years when I could get a 65" TV for $400 and buy a decent micro computer for $100 more
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Tbf there are decent $400 smartphones in today's market that make top end spec phones unjust it's just what you want
