It literally took me 10 minutes to update reinand for 11.4.
Good for you. Luma (mostly) supports new firmwares automatically.
I'm just stating facts.
Don't talk about things you don't understand. Just don't go pissing on my work.
What I fail to understand is why would anyone maintain ReiNAND?
Why does anyone still use it? Luma is better in every way.
Why not maintain something useful like Corbeniks instead?
I hope for an alternative too. I used luma a lot recently but in my special case the new builds break many things and workarounds (e.g. all old *hax) which worked for a really long time. Of course a9lh is not supported anymore so I'm forced to update sooner or later.
I asked for a solution on github and instead of "ok, we'll look into this bug and fix that" (which in my opinion as a technician/programmer is the obvious answer), the best I got was: "use the legacy build instead". I bet the next thing which will get "patched" will be dropped emunand support.
Sorry luma, I appreciate new features and stuff but I don't get why all old stuff is not supported anymore. If I would do this in my business I'll get fired the next day. Of course it is opensource and I'm happy with that but I never would make such a decision.
It is not hard to maintain compatibility even if you need to make an option for it.
What's the point of supporting old *hax in CFW if Rosalina lets you launch it directly from an app?
hbmenu 2.0 still supports launching payloads on stock firmwares if that's what you mean.
>Of course a9lh is not supported anymore so I'm forced to update sooner or later.
This is exactly why support for outdated entrypoints was dropped. So people would stop using them.
Entrypoints like MSET, menuhax, other*hax, etc left the sysNAND potentially vulnerable to updating.
Not to mention they're inferior anyway. Why wouldn't you update to B9S? It takes almost no time at all, and is better in every way.
EmuNAND is actually useful for development so support for it won't be dropped.
If you were an experienced developer you would know it's harder to maintain support for multiple entrypoints instead of just one.
Like you said yourself it's open source. If you want to add support for unsafe entrypoints then go for it.
ReiNAND isn't a useless CFW, as it handles things very differently
Sure, if by different you mean have less features.
Here is my reasoning.
I have tried Luma3DS and ReiNand. Luma3DS has a wiki to explain each option and how to setup your config and use (multiple emunand, run sysnand with emunand fw, game patching, etc). ReiNand has no features the user needs to enable/disable or comprehend.
Why would you want something with less features?
I have 1 simple need to install and play games with sig checks disabled.
Okay. Then press start at the config screen and you're done.
I only wish ReiNand had AGB/TWL patching feature so it would remove the requirement of having to install a hacked/patched AGB/TWL cia on your Nand(sys/emu) to enable custom GBA cias and DSiWare cias to run.
Luma already has that.
