That would depend on the stock rotation of that specific store: how many consoles do they have, how many have they sold in the past months, and how many they've bought in the same time...

...by the way, all consoles are hackable on any version, without no downgrade required (but you can still do one afterwards), thanks to sighax!

If you don't mind hard modding it, you can install Boot9strap, and don't have to worry about what firmware version it's on and if it can be downgraded.

In order to put b9s on 11.4 you need to get one of the select few dsiware games such as Zelda fourswords digitally from the eshop, which is impossible since nintendo took it down. The only way to get it is if you system transfer with anoughter 3ds that has it.

I bet that a new 2DS XL isn't hackable at all, right?
Better to ask that question 3 days before the official launch (when someone is bound to have received them already)

Dev models are already available but nobody (of the maybe 100 persons with one) tried modding it, that I know (considering that you can sign your own cias...)

WHy not check it out in the store
I am sure they will have no objection to turning it on to make sure it works, at whic time you could check to fw version in settings
if it is 11.3 or below, you are good to go

Extremely unlikely it will come with such an old version, considering it's a new hardware configuration (skipping 3d slider check during initial setup, eh?)
It's very likely to come with a "new" version heavily based on an older one (likely 11.3, but possibly .2 or .4)

So basically pay for the 3ds,open it in the store to see if its on 11.3 and if it isn't then do a refund. What if they refund you less than what you payed, would it be worth it?

Never said anything about buying and returning but if thats what they do in Europe go for it.
The Nintendo units {in USA) are not sealed, so it should not be too much of a big deal to for thestore clerk to allow you to look at your impending purchase before forking over your hard earned cash.

Not sure about Europe, but in USA places like walmart, target don't mind if you look at a Nintendo console and check it out especially as it is not sealed and yes here in USA you could do a buy return if necessary and get your full money back if within the return p[olicy timing

Bought 2 N3ds black consoles recently in USA(less than 30 days) from Target, both were at 11.2.
Less than 11.3 or less meant that that these fws would lead to easiest methods of CFW installment.
Chances at the moment are good for a less than 11.4 fw, but not guaranteed.

Wel ask a store display unit :) (Bart Smit, changed name to InterToys in The Netherlands)
Told my friend last week to ask a store display unit (not e demo unit), and it was no problem to get the unit that was in the locker as display
(This was at Bart Smit)

The unit ended up being a N3DSXL 9.2 unit

Are you being for real, cause that's hard to believe, DK is Nintendo and made in japan, Sea of thieves was from Microsoft, in America. I'm not calling you a liar, just didn't know.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Ok yes they were both made by Rare, but DK was from Rare back then, Rare now is owned by MS. So makes since.
