ROM Hack i got the sky3ds but i cant run it on my friend 3ds XL

so i have the old 3ds and i got sky3ds and it works great for now but for some reason when i put it on my friend 3ds XL
it does not work is the card only word on one 3ds so if buy the new 3ds XL it wont work because that what i am planning to do but i dont wanna do it if i have to buy i new sky3ds so i wanna know is there a way to make it work
((btw my friend patch is the same as mine ))

Had the same exact issue with one of my XL's. Must be a contact issue
