Hacking How to update my Jtag?

My friend has a jtag that I gave him two years ago. He does'nt know anything about computers, but some newer games don't work. I'll see him next week and he asked me to make updates on the jtag. Can someone tell me what I need to do to update it everything in it?

Use 360 multi builder.

It's pretty straight forward.

If you have the original NAND and CPUKey then you can build a NAND straight away.

If not you should boot up XeLL (press the eject to boot)
Write down your CPU Key in a text file called "cpukey.txt"
Then (if he has FSD installed) boot 360 NAND flasher and dump your NAND to a USB drive.
Rename the orig_nand.bin to nanddump.bin on your computer.

Once you've done that you should have 2 files, cpukey.txt (containing the CPU key) and nanddump.bin (the actual NAND it self)

Put those in the folder Data\_my_images from 360 multi builder.

From that point it should be easy as hell.


Flashing the newly hacked NAND back to the 360 can be done via 360 NAND Flasher.
Updating the Avatar Data can be done by downloading the official MS update (15572) and rename the $sysupdate to $$ysupdate (or something similar, either way change the first S to a $ symbol)

Now I need to update it again.
My Jtag asks for Kinect update when I turn it on, has no avatars (asks for update) and can not play any video files - asks for updates.
What do I need to install?
I'm on 16197 and FSD 3.0.

Hmm.
Download the 16197 update and rename the $systemupdate to $$ystemupdate.
Then insert the USB drive in the console and boot the MS dash.

Hit apply and let it update.
It'll update the Sysexternal partition and give you Kinect + Avatar data.

16202 isn't needed yet but you'll need to update your NAND first before updating to 16202

Can I download official MS update, or it should be jtag patched one?
It will not mess up my jtag?

1. if you make a hacked 16202 NAND then you can download it from Xbox.com yes.
Otherwise use Update spy to download 16197.

2. nope.
Just be sure to rename $systemupdate to $$ystemupdate and make sure that the sysupdate is equal to the NAND version (15574 with update 15574 etc)
Also be sure to update the NAND BEFORE you update the rest.

3. Build a freshly hacked NAND (as described above) and flash it via hardware or software.
You can also use other NAND building apps for it.

4. I think that is the Optional Media update.
You can get that from the XeXMenu Live CD uploaded on Filetrip.
