Homebrew How to install legit CIA files 9.3-10.3

I've been tryi to do this for ages, ahh. O3ds, Menuhax, 10.1. I have a .CIA for Super Mario 3D World, but when I actually got into FBI, it failed to install. Invalid signature? Is the CIA I got not valid ?

If it says invalid signature then it's not legit.

Just want to give you guys some feedback on my quest to install legit Cias. My "understanding" was that because the coding was so shoddy on the modified FBI that I needed to run another app to start it (as many of you were with chmm2, ftbrony etc) then I remembered I had a similar incident with 3dscraft. On hax 2.5 this homebrew is completely broken, but you can get it to BARELY work by loading chmm2/ftbrony/etc first. This somehow didn't work on my o3ds on 10.3 but a user a couple months back posted a link for a 3DScraft fixer that did the trick for me. The best part is that this trick worked for me! I used it to load into 3ds craft, exited and loaded FBI!!! It's incredibly laggy like 3dscraft but with a tiny bit of patience I got into my cia folder and I'm currently installing without any problems.

TL; DR If you previously tried 3ds craft and got it to work try using the same steps to get FBI to work. I would link my file if I could but I can't get my sd card right now, if you want to try the file search gbatemp for 3dscraft fixer. I wish you guys all the best

Youre supposed to force close the app (L+R+DOWN+B) then try opening FBI. For purpose of full disclosure I loaded 3ds craft first and also didnt have any game cart in my o3ds slot as well as wifi off

Sadly, it didnt help me, i always get stuck on "Map COmplete."

Hmm have you managed to get 3dscraft working on your 3ds before? I always had problems with it so thats why I tried 3dscraftfixer. Unfortunately thats all the help I have, some people reported success using other methods so hopefully one will work for you. If its any help I can confirm that youll see FBI load immediately after the done screen so it may save some time if you dont wait 20 seconds after each try to see if it works

EDIT: IIRC I also received map complete on my try before it worked so dont be discouraged. Its buggy but try 5 attempts at least on a single method and gauge the progress

I have managed to load CIAs on 2x3DS' and 1x2DS but i have yet more CIAs to install, however i have no luck accessing the FBI again.

When loading 3DS craft on its own i see no blocks. But loading the 3dscraft fix then loading 3dscraft fixed it. But why would it not work with FBI?

What firm vers you on and what handheld?

I can confirm EUR region .CIAs work on Australian consoles! Just installed about 10 games to my N3DS XL on 10.3! Took like 30 tries to get FBI to actually work without freezing or chucking Install errors but that seems a lot faster than most people in this thread so I guess I'm lucky! Yeah you basically need 2 qualifications:
1) The screen should show "Step 1:" then a bunch of things, and the last line should say "Done."
2) You need to be able to press A on this screen once Done is shown to take you to the actual FBI menu. Sometimes Done will show but FBI will be frozen and pressing A will do nothing
If you get to the FBI menu without done, in my experience the CIA installations will just fail. Just keep rebooting until you get it to work. If it helps, I booted into FTPBrony first then exited that with L+R+B+Down then opened FBI. Also I'd advise you to install as many CIAs as you want the first time, cause if you end up wanting to add more later it'll be a hassle getting FBI to work again.

Yeah if 3dscraft didnt work before 3dscraft fixer will change that and youll actually see the landscape loading and can jump using L (I think). I have a LE oot EU o3ds on 10.3 and I used ironhax (hax 2.5)

When you say hax 2.5, does that mean there are different types of ironhax?

Had tons of issues getting this to work with any consistency, extensive testing has yielded this method that works 100% of the time for me with N3DS on 10.3:

1. Boot 3DS normally
2. Run a normal game (so far I've used Smash and Badge Arcade)
3. Turn off 3DS entirely
4. Boot into Menuhax
5. Start and exit Ironhax Installer
6. Run FBI

For some reason if I boot straight to Menuhax without first running and shutting down from a normal game, it freezes at various points in FBI's startup, the few times it gets to done it just hangs there unresponsive.

Hope this helps some people who keep trying and trying and trying with legit CIA.

This didn't work for me :-( Do you actually have Ironfall installed? I don't, maybe that's the problem. Also, between running the game and shutting down, so you press Home to quit the game and then turn it off with the power button? Or do you press the power button during the game? I tried both of these.

Or just use the eject trick. A few people reported that it doesn't work but they probably did it wrong. If it works for a few people (including me), it should work for everyone else.

Can you describe the timing a bit better? This is what I tried:
A) ejecting then mashing A as soon as I saw the blue screen
B) ejecting then mashing A near the end of the green screen (which is just before the blue)
C) not ejecting and just mashing A when I saw the blue screen
D) ejecting then mashing A near the end of the blue screen
E)Not ejecting and mashing A right when FBI is trying to start up (red screen)
