Misc How can I play online games without getting updated?

Im using a JP n3ds on 9.2 emunand, how can I play online multiplayer without getting a nintendo update to my 3ds?

It's more focused on getting onto the eShop but this is still really good read it tells you what you need to do
im not worried about the eshop at all actually, I just want to play games like Monster Hunter X online, without getting my 3ds updated. I know it doesn't auto update the system, but i'd rather not have the update downloaded at all on my 3ds. How about just blocking the 3ds updates with that DNS server thing, does that even still work now? But thanks for the response though! :)
