GridLauncher 3DSFlow Project (Box Cover Banners)

Hey guys! I wanted to share an idea I had when playing around with the new Full screen banners feature of the Grid Launcher. I've already made all the games I have installed and from gamecards but with some help we could expand this to have many other games until the point we all have all of our games boxes on the title menu like we used to have on the Wii days with WiiFlow. Hope you like this idea as much as I do. ​

How to get the proper title id for games you don't own.​

Spoiler: How to get the proper title id from games you don't own.

1. Search for the game you're working on http://www.3dsdb.com/ Make sure it's the correct region and if it's eshop of card version.
2. Copy the title id of your game from http://www.3dsdb.com/
3. Go to this website http://www.binaryhexconverter.com/hex-to-decimal-converter and convert the title id you copied from hexadecimal value to decimal value and the decimal result is the title id the gridlauncher uses.

I'm using paint.net in this guide but any photo editor should work.
1. To have a uniform look you'll need to download the 3DSFlow template. (Right click and save as)

2. Download a box art for your game and crop only the artwork without the Nintendo 3DS logo.

You should have an image like this

4. Resize the image to 186x186

5. Paste your box art on top of the template and align it. It should fit perfectly on top of the black square shape.

6. Now you must name correctly your image but first you must look for your game's title id.

1. On your 3DS start up the grid launcher and tap the home icon on the bottom left of the bottom screen.
2. Move your cursor to highlight your desired game and then press select.
3. On the top screen you'll find out your game's title id (The title id varies
   from region)

7. Now that you have your title id save the image titleid-banner-fullscreen in my case I'm using Kid Icarus Uprising US so I'll name it 1125899907039488-banner-fullscreen and save it as a .png

8. Place your image on your 3ds SD card in this directory SD:gridlauncher/titlebanners/

I know it sounds kind of complicated but once you try it out it will only take you a couple of minutes. Here I'll leave a little video of 2 box art I made.

1. To have a uniform look you'll need to download the 3DSFlow template. (Right click and save as)

2. Please follow steps from 2. to 5. of the How to make a box cover banner (Noob proof guide) above and come back when you are done.

3. Save the image with the homebrew .3dsx name of your homebrew app and place it next to your homebrew files. In my case, with Killerman Ghost Buster I'll rename templatehb-banner-fullscreen with the same name of my homebrew .3dsx file where the templatehb goes and that leaves me with killerman_ghost_buster-banner-fullscreen. Save your image as a .png and place it within your homebrew app's folder.

Example directory:
SD:gridlauncher/folders/HBL Games/killerman_ghost_buster/killerman_ghost_buster-banner-fullscreen.png

SD:3ds/killerman_ghost_buster/killerman_ghost_buster-banner-fullscreen.png

I already created 40 banners for my US 3ds. Title id varies from region so if you use another banner from another region you'll need to rename the titles id to match your region. I'll make a list with all the game covers and regions soon but you can see them or download them on the bottom of this post.

This is not a release!! this is a project and I hope to get help from you guys. How cool would it be to have all of your games and homebrew apps with a uniform boxart? I think it would look awesome!

Thanks for your support! I also miss the days when this was really active but with so much new stuff I understand why it isn't anymore. I'm still making covers every time I see a new homebrew pop up but I miss seeing the different style other users gave to the covers so even if we have every homebrew app covered (Which we don't) there can always be alternative covers. With the release of @ihaveamac cover downloader and the opening of GameTDB 3ds section this will be more easy to set up and more accessible than ever. I hope to see those soon.

We even made a template for it but we didn't knew it was possible without adding the extra feature to the gridlauncher. Well it turns out it is. To have a theme banner just name the banner theme-banner-fullscreen.png and place it inside a theme's folder.

If only it were possible to add our custom covers to rxtools as replacements for the regular top screen images for games and the sorts

I also thought of that and I'm looking into how to create a 3d banner for cias. It's not as easy as I thought. I'll try to do it to some handy apps in cfw like devmenu and savedatafiller if I get the hang of it. What could be more easy to make is an app like wiiflow. That way we should not have to worry about the size limit of the gridlauncher.

just want to note that he's fine with it; after all, I shared it earlier in this thread (because I'm working on the downloader slowly but surely)

I don't think you credited the creator of this specific cover.

oh but Jwiz33 is on the contributors list on the first post. He made this one and other great covers. I placed that cover on that post since is the only theme cover available. I did not wanted to take credit for it also.

Not the best I've made but it's still better than nothing. Here is a banner for Brahma2. Wasn't exactly sure if you wanted that on CFW or HB so I made both.

I can't guarantee its completeness though, even though is is my site, I've not been uploading to it recently.

as a note: homebrew as .cia doesn't "need" covers, because you install homebrew as .cia to launch them from the Home Menu. .3dsx homebrew can be placed in any layout, making it hard to download covers for them. I'll think of a solution to it later.

The template can be rezised to match the template of GameTDB. I was planing to rezise them all when the final GameTDB templates are availible. The new ones have different shadow.

Hi everyone ! It's been a while but now I have (almost) all system titles covers done, in (almost) every language/region, so...tell me what you think about them :


(there are 2 Face Raiders covers because o3DS and n3DS have different TitleIDs)

Here are only the US covers, but I hosted an archive on my Gdrive which includes JP, US, AUS, EN, FR, DE, DU, IT, SP, PT & RU covers and the GIMP file for those of you who'd need to make their own layouts. All of them should have their correct rating logo (RU doesn't have one because I couldn't find what system is in use there), but tell me if I made a mistake.
