A couple years ago I was very knowledgeable about using my hacked switch, let it sit for a year untouched, battery was dead, for days I couldn't turn it on, let charge 24hrs, pressed the power 30 seconds, tried different power adapters, launched TegraRcmGUI & for the first time in days I had signs of life, here's what I have to do to get my switch to actually boot up to where I can see what I should see, I plug in usb-c to switch, other usb plugged into computer, click TegraRcmGUI, hold vol+/power, TegraRcmGUI gives the green signal, now after many tries, the next has to be done, I inject hekate 5.5.7 payload, sd card can't be inserted or nothing ever happens after injection, with sd card out, switch has yellow warning about sd missing, I insert sd now, press power, now hekate screen appears, I launch cfw (first one) (I would write the exact one, but this process takes time) and by some surprise it actually boots, how do I get rid of all this running around & start over so I can just press power & start my switch? I have been working on this for 3 days, after 1, I thought I had to buy a new switch, after reading article after article & watching dozens of youtube videos, I got this switch started, so please help, thank you! firmware 7.0.1 AMS M.19.4 S, use jig, it's hackable, going to buy a rcm loader

You can't get rid of all this "running around" sadly, as there hasn't been a coldboot exploit yet.
The reason you couldn't see anything on your screen is because your Switch was in RCM, which is what allows you to use Tegra to push a payload onto the console and boot into CFW.
Your best bet would be to buy an RCM Loader, which allows you to boot without a computer, but you still need to carry it around with you.

Thanks for the reply, problem is I have to inject payload, sd card empty, then after a few more steps get it to start, anyway to just start at launch screen, or does RCM loader do this, I used to be on top of this, but after a year or more, I'm starting over again, thanks again I appreciate your in put!

RCM Loader does exactly what it says on the tin, loads a payload while your console is in RCM.
Basically, an RCM Loader is a physical replacement for TegraRCM, so you don't have to use a computer, but you still have to carry the dongle around.

You will still need to launch RCM whether manually or with AutoRCM.

If your Switch has autoRCM, and you do not send a payload, it will just show a black screen when it boots. This black screen is indistinguishable from the Switch just being off. The system will not charge while on this black screen. When you plug in the system to charge it, the system tries to power on. However, since you're not injecting a payload, it just stays on the black screen. Since it can't charge on the black screen, the system does not get charged. The way to fix this is to plug in the system, hold down the power button for a good 10 seconds to turn it off (since it's on the black screen), and wait five minutes for it to charge. Then unplug it from the charger and turn the system on while injecting the payload. Once you have the system actually booted, you can put it back on the charger to let the battery charge the rest of the way.
If it doesn't work the first time, don't panic. You probably just turned the system ON whenever you held the power button instead of OFF. It's impossible to tell whether the system is on or off without injecting the payload. If it won't boot with the payload injected, it means the battery is still dead and to try charging it again. And if you're using something like an SX Pro dongle, make sure the dongle is charged as well (takes less than five seconds to charge it).
