This thread is starting to remind me of... Almost every other translation project in human history (specially when they are about to be finished! XD).
Come on people, I know that "Project cancelled" update on the OP can upset many fans, but let's analyze the situation, before getting mad: There are publicly available English texts. I presume they were created by editing the original script, which was in turn dumped using the tools we DO NOT have access to.
What I mean is that the proper romhacker could create extraction tools to dump the script once again, replace that newly created dump with the available English files, and then code a reinsertion tool so the game displays the edited texts (yeah, having English texts, you could in theory skip the extraction, but having you own decoder will save you a lot of trouble). It is true that the hacking part of a project is usually the most difficult, but we all now that the lengthy translation process is what make a project take years. If we have the edited text, the time wasn't wasted. I fact, I wouldn't be surprised if someone ends up making a ninja release of this. Sure, everyone would go mad at him at first (lol, trust me, I know what I'm taking about), but at least that would secure the patch.
Now I'd like to know a little bit more about the actual state of the project, hopefully @
devnoname120 can help me out here:
-I've read that the script is pretty much finished, though I've also seen something about translators using Google Translate... Still, does this include menus, etc.. Or only the story text?
-I haven't seen a single screenshot from the project: those in the OP have no text (or UI whatsoever). Have you guys done any reinsertion test?
-What's the overall opinion of the team, about the state of the project (not counting translation tools), I mean, is the translation team happy with the results, or would they need more time to work on it?
-Have you explored the possibility of using the official text from other versions of the game? When I looked at this game, years ago, the Vita had no scene, and there was no PC version yet, but that has changed and it could worth it having a look at the files from the Steam version of the game...
I guess that's it for now...
