Possibly, although people have reported the DVD5 working and the DVD9 not.

I just had Wasabi installed on DMS NTSC Wii. SSBB NTSC Wiizard iso burned with no errors (Memorex DVD+R DL 2.4x) and using layerbreak but still gives read errors. SMG runs perfectly on Wasabi, just for the record. Any suggestions? I really don't want to have to send this back to Nintendo after just installing this chip.

to play the american super smash brothers brawl [ SSBB ] on a pal wii, i got the dvd5 version [ scrubbed ] and used brickblocker on the iso. i started it up on my wii, but i would get a black screen, it wouldn't load. so then i changed the screen settings in the wii menu to 50Hz. this time it started up but it had very bad image quality. i went to the options menu of the game, and turned off deflicker mode. then i resetted my wii and changed the screensettings back to 60Hz in the wii menu. Now i was able to play the game with graphics like they were supposed to be. it just takes a couple of seconds longer to start the game. as you still get the black screen before the game loads.

so all i had to do to play SSBB (USA) on my PAL Wii:
1. get SSBB, in my case the dvd5 version
2. use brickblocker on the ISO
3. burn to DVD
4. screensettings to 50Hz in Wii menu
5. turn off deflicker mode, by booting the game, creating a savegame, and going to the options menu
6. screensettings to 60Hz in Wii menu
Now i could play the game with graphics like they were supposed to be

BTW my firmware is 1.9g (wii key) and my wii is ver. 3.1 (european)

This is great guys! There are actual free offers that you can complete to earn stuff. Each point it equal to one dollar so signing up and completing offers is really worthwhile. PM me if you have any other questions!

My setup prior to SSBB (NTSC-U game - without ever having played ANY version of SSBB on my Wii before):

Jap wii 3.2J (updated via SMG and then online)
wiikey 1.9g

....

SSBB full game (USA version)

followed directions here: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=76736

only instead of using the ProphSSBB.inf file, i used the one someone took out from the NTSC-J version of SSBB.

After that trucha signed both partitions (just to be safe) - I let the game update all the way - it hung for 30 sec at about 95% complete, then finished. Game works like a champ - no semi-brick, no freeze, no 001 error, and no dual channels. Thanks everyone for all the great help!

Oops... also:

Burned using ImgBurn with Layer Break at 2084960

Media used: Mitsubishi DVD+R DL (burned at 2x)

in case you're wondering disks were made in Singapore not China (if that makes a difference, I don't know)

This topic should be unstickied and forgotten. SSBB (J) is forgotten now since NTSC and PAL came out. There are also many other ways to run Brawl now. Safer ways rather than turning Wii off at 15%.

We had our grandkids over yesterday and I got a small above ground swimming pool I filled for them to play in. Well today I woke to find 3 ducks swimming around in it. Don't mind really but they are annoyingly loud, quack quack. Gotta drain it today. Guess what were having for dinner, lol.

plus if you're making brownies or lava cakes for people with dairy allergies, you should use oil instead of butter anyway

I make rum cake for 4th July every year, I make it a week prior and then soak it in rum in the fridge all week. I flip the cake each day, and add little more rum, it soaks it up everyday, so good.
