Hey guys. I put down my 3ds (again..) for a couple months and am looking into playing some games again.

I have a Gateway card, sysnand of 9.0.0-20U, and an emunand of GW3D 11.2.0-35U.

I see that Gateway hasn't released an update since February (rip...), so I'm guessing I can't just download their card firmware and update my emunand?

How can I go about getting a fully updated emunand so I can continue to play the games I have online?

Thanks!

At this stage of the game, folks are rightly recommending a move away from Gateway. That said, since you're still on 11.2, there's an existing option for going online that doesn't require dumping your EmuNAND. You can simply use the .3DS version of FBI to install the HBC cia and from there launch ctr-httpwn which allows for online play on older firmware (which is since patched past 11.4). Keep in mind, I'm only highlighting this option if you have a specific need for Gateway features not available from Luma (ie - direct .3ds loading and, on rare occasion, cheats not available via NTR). Additionally, you'll also want to block any updates via DNS. I'll link the relevant thread to the updated values when I get home.

ctr-httpwn no longer works, period. When confronted with the same decision, this was the choice I made, but it's following a stubborn ideal of keeping the options of Ninjhax 1.1b, Gateway's .3ds and cheat overlay, online, in addition to all the obvious benefits that a pure Luma setup offers.

If you have saves that are important to you, follow https://gbatemp.net/threads/importing-gateway-saves-to-cia-games.425743/

Then uninstall menuhax if you have it (boot into sysNAND and change the theme)

Then follow https://3ds.guide

I am going to reaffirm the previous suggestion to simply back up your saves and go the free CFW route. At this point Gateway isn't just out of date, but they've moved on to a new cart.

Moving to a CFW simply avoids the hassle of dealing with Gateway these days.

Following that guide, will I be able to install .CIA games, and play .3ds? There's a lot of acronyms and phrases that I don't really understand being thrown around (CFW, ctr-httpwn, FBI, HBC, NTR, DNS), since I haven't been in the 3ds scene in quite a while.

Basically I don't really super care about my save files, I don't have any games that I'm really far in and care about (ORAS I just hacked in all my mons so it's whatever), but the main thing is I'd like to be able to install .cia files, play .3ds (if it's still not possible to easily convert to .cia), and be able to extract and import save files from games (so I can continue to inject pokemon into the games). What will be the easiest way to be able to do this, without a large risk of bricking my device?

If you don't are about your saves, then just start with the Guide. Although with CFW (custom firmware) you still have .cia game support, but you do loose your .3DS ROM support.
The rest are terms, this is your best start to understanding them
https://gbatemp.net/threads/glossary-of-common-3ds-hacking-terms.414430/
And this is ctr-httpwn

I do always suggest becoming familiar with these terms, it will be helpful for following up with the community.
Installing B9S with 9.2 is the easiest way of going about this and there's a 0% chance of bricking. You just need to follow The Guide and it will tell you everything you need to know.

Sounds good, I'll follow that guide. Is there any way to convert a game from .3ds to .cia? As far as I remember, some of the custom rom "hacks" of games I tried were in .3ds format.

ctr-httpwn was working just fine on 11.2 (which he's on) last I checked. When did this change?

Edit: If you're talking about the error, that can safely be ignored, as it still works fine: https://gbatemp.net/threads/is-there-a-working-ctr-httpwn.474350/
