I was wondering if it was possible to emulate Gamecube games on the PC? I'm not sure how far emulation has come for consoles such as GC, PS2 and Xbox, but it must be getting decent, right?

My PC is beefy, so I'm pretty sure it'll handle GC emulation well.

Just looking for some advice before I go downloading emulators and running them.

Thanks!

There are no decent Gamecube emulators, there is one that came close, but AFAIK it only played one game.
EDIT: There have been updates recently and this appears to be the best.

Emulation requires more power than you think, even NES emulation is providing problems (last time I checked anyway). Its probably many many years off being half decent.

Power is not the only problem. As we improve upon our consoles each generation, their architecture becomes more and more complex. The programmers who are making your emulators are doing this for free or even if it was commercial it is hard to sale something to pirates. In order to make a complex emulator, you need to put lots of time into reverse engineering and such. Even then, you'll be lucky if the emulator even comes close. Now if Nintendo were to design an emulator, I'm sure it would not only be efficient, but also precise. However, we all know that's not going to happen.

Just buy the console, man, it's like 30 bucks on eBay

I spent over £800 ($1600) of my own hard earned cash on a new PC. I'm pretty broke at the moment man.

That depends on his family situation. My parents would NEVER let me get a console, but computer was ok. So I had to sneak and play emulators on the PC while they are not at home. Sometimes, it is not about the money.

That sucks :< My parents won't buy me a console unless it's like Birthday/Xmas presents. I have to save up what little money I get to buy stuff.

mkay, that's a valid point

it's still a good investment if he's allowed to buy one...though it's probably still rather expensive to have it modded

Hmm, no luck.

Dolphin isn't running Double Dash. Everytime the game boots the emulator crashes. I'll try downloading another revision or something.

EDIT: It's working! I'm using v1.02 and it's loading fine. All the menus run at full speed.

I can't get any buttons to work apart from the directionals and enter.

EDIT #2: Kay screw GC emulation. Once you get into a race it goes to 4fps and then goes completely black, lol.

I'll stick to N64 emulation for now 8D
