Current gen consoles have a hard enough time with 1080p/60fps. We won't see full 4K support for a long time. If you wanna future proof and/or use it for an expensive PC gaming rig? Sure, go for it. If you only have interest in a PS4, then don't bother with 4k.

PS4 can't handle 4K gaming, but if you want a TV that will last for 10 years I'd personally go for 4K (or if you ever want to hook up your PC to enjoy 4K gaming). I personally have a love for plasma TV's, but those are hard to come by these days. The next best (and still very expensive) thing is OLED. However, if you don't mind you could easily go with a LED TV. Just make sure the TV is at least 120Hz or more (not "dynamic", but base value).

I am no expert, but this should get you going into the right direction.

no console supports 4k (ultra HD)
i would say to get a full hd (1080p) specially so you will not have to deal with shitty upscalling some tvs do... 4k would be a waste if your main use is a console

personally i think 4k is not really that great, 1080p is already big enough...

about the 1080p/60fps only the console can tell you that.. a tv just displays what the the console outputs, if the game was designed to play at 30fps there is nothing a tv can do about that

a console usually outputs at 30fps, some games can do 60.. not sure about if consoles can do 75 or higher..
fps (frames per second) or hertz its basically the same thing, that means, if the console does 60fps, the tv will work at 60 hertz..
if a game is compatible with 3d glasses, and you want to use the the 3d glasses, you will need to double the value, for example, 120 hertz, means 60 hertz for each eye..

a 4k tv can play a console 1080p just fine, the thing is, the picture will be "zoomed" and depending on the tv that zoom can be really great or bad.. that zoom is called upscale..

I cant justify $1k+ on a nice ass phone. I can spend that on a 75" tv screen. Why a 6" screen device cost me the same? lol

I can justify a decent $800 smartphone that'll last 3 years when I could get a 65" TV for $400 and buy a decent micro computer for $100 more
