So i'm playing Bravely Default, and reached the demo (prequel) of the second game. Issue is that it's only English for us, whereas the main titles have dual languages. Is it possible to reach the japanese eshop and download the free demo from there?

If you don't have a Japanese region 3DS or region changed one you probably out of luck other than finding the demo in cia format, don't asks here where to get them.

Also, I dont think that the bonuses you get from playing the demo will be compatible if you go from J demo to US/EU Bravely Second, and similarly from US/EU Bravely Default to J demo.

Been a while since I played them, so I'm not certain.

And if you want the complete BD 3ds experience you may want to look at grabbing the 'for the sequel' translation that's out there.

Already finished Bravely Default so that's over with. But afaik "for the sequel" is just the regular old one without the qol features?

Some consumables are nothing if i can get rid of the low budget cringe inducing english voice acting

I think you might have to do a ctrnand transfer to Japanese to download it, but I do not know if you can access the eshop or not.

He actually needs a second 3ds of the same variant type like new or old 3ds and do a ctr transfer instead, but what is best for OP is probably to find the Bravely Second Japanese version either in CIA or physical cart, demo is not much to play, even though there is a demo of the Japanese version.

I found the english voice files, but they were incomplete for a mod. English had a lot more files so probably patched in more voices later

There is a Japanese demo on the Japanese eshop, but the eshop close on Monday, probably not enough time for you to get a Japanese 3DS to get access to the demo. The full game you can probably buy it off like ebay.

The demo has fallen through the cracks it seems. I've found multiple places with japanese games, even the for the sequel, but the bravely second demo is never present. If only i could get my hands on it xD

Yeah, I can't find the Japanese demo anywhere either... annoying because I know it was out there at some point because I played it before the localised version dropped - it was on one of those sites that's no longer with us (either Chaos or the ISO one). I may have it archived, but it's unlikely.

I can't even find it's title ID on the 3ds title key DB.

Here it is:

I don't think this is one that should be lost to obscurity. Some of us don't like cheap english voiceacting and want to play these with jp voices back to back. You can for the main games, but for some reason Nintendo doens't allow that for the demo.

You need a Japanese 3ds of the same variant like N3DS to N3DS to do a CTR Transfer to allow you to get eshop access, standard CTR Transfer won't give you access. You are kinda of luck since the eshop goes down on Monday, unless you find someone with the demo or a cia format, probably out of luck, I still don't get it why you want to play the demo when you can get the full game in Japanese region cart.

Demo is a prequel to the second game so exclusive content. I'm not on new 3ds, i've got an old one

The demo plot isn't a prequel to the second game, it is just a demo, plot wise it is different than the actual full game, you need an Japanese old 3ds, but regardless, eshop is closing on Monday so you are out of luck, people doesn't really dump Japanese content, that why I had to buy a copy of Bravely Default Flying Fairy, the original game, "not for the sequel" one that got localized.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
