That would make sense. That's the only issue I've run into while playing, besides the obvious performance issue. I'm actually having fun playing Doom on my 3DS, thank you.
Performance issues? O3ds or n3ds and what are you using to boot, firmware version, etc?

O3DS, IronHax (fixed release with fixed Homebrew Launcher), 9.9.0. It dips in framerate once in a while and there's a bit of screen tearing here and there. Like I posted, it's not a big enough deal for me to not enjoy it.

Can somebody make a .cia version that is correctly named and has a banner? It looks weird just being called '3DS Sample Homebrew'!

Pressing B freezes the console as well. :(
How are you launching this ninjhax, ironhax, etc? did you try pressing start to toggle the console? Even if it doesn't find pak files (which you need to get if you want to start a map) it will end up at the console. It really doesn't do anything until you start a map so it is unusual that it is dying for you. Did you install the MP3 files? Can you here it start to play?

I'm using ironhax, Start doesn't work either and yes I installed the music files in the id1 folder and there's no sound, all I get is that mod menu.

make sure you have the proper folder structure:
/3ds/spectre3ds/spectre3ds.3dsx
/3ds/spectre3ds/id1/pak0.pak
/3ds/spectre3ds/id1/pak1.pak
/3ds/spectre3ds/id1/music/02.mp3

you could also try reloading the pak files maybe they are corrupt. try creating a directory at the same level as the id1 folder (name doesn't matter - "test" is fine). it should appear on the boot menu then see if you can move the selection up and down - this will see if the directory structure is ok and if it is the menu itself that is freezing or if it is something later.

Ok, I got it to work, all files were ok, I realized there was a blank space to select on that menu and that started the game, It runs amazing tho, by the way is there any way to enable the HUD or any info onscreen?

glad you got it to work. no hud at the moment - not implemented yet.

you have to save and load from the console:
save filename.sav
load filename.sav

to start a new game:
map start

Thanks, one last thing, is there any way to change the key bindings? I can't change weapons with the default settings, also is it possible to increase the freelook speed with the nipple stick?

EDIT: just realized this is in the wrong thread. this pertains to spectre3ds not prboom3ds

yes, you can change the key bindings - but they will not be saved. you currently have to enter them each time you start. (I know - this is not good)

to bind a key:
bind key action

the buttons are mapped to the equivalent keyboard letters - A button = a, B button = b
currently only the following actions can be bound
forward
back
left
right
up
down
jump
attack
speed
strafeleft
straferight

the cstick and nub sensitivity can be controlled with the following settings
cstick_sensitivity
nub_sensitivity

to see a value type:
set key

to change a value:
set key value

to list values (use the tab key to list partialname key matches):
set c (then hit tab)
will list all the values that start with c
