Can Nintendont do everything that dios mios was able to do? that is, at the least, loading GC games from (burned) disc, as well as SD and USB?Shouldn't this be un-stickied and Nintendont be made a sticky?
Don't think DiosMios ever ran burnt discs, only SD/USB and yes, nintendont does everything and more. Can Nintendont do everything that dios mios was able to do? that is, at the least, loading GC games from (burned) disc, as well as SD and USB?

What I would like to do is move nintendont from wiiU section to Wii section along DM and devo (as it works both on Wii and vWii, not on WiiU mode), and clean the WiiU forum's section.
But that doesn't include removing actual or old loader's thread from here.
the link posted here is dead. I need an update for dios mios since nintendont crashes randomly while playing SSBM. Is there any way to obtain a newer version?Guys, since the Google Code page is closed now, we cannot get the links for downloading DIOS MIOS any more at the previously usual place.
Use this address

crediar's site just linked to an external file sharing site for the downloads, so those links are still up even though crediar's site is down. the following are the original links to the latest (2.11) version...the link posted here is dead. ok. I have it now, and it seems like it replaced my current MIOS. I also saw its not super compatible with certain games. Does this mean that if I play those games off of a disc I would experience issues, unlike if I were to play them off of a clean MIOS?crediar's site just linked to an external file sharing site for the downloads, so those links are still up even though crediar's site is down. the following are the original links to the latest (2.11) version...

while i agree that most people should be using nintendont, there are fringe use cases for dios mios like people who are using a gecko to access the exi bus. very fringe, but it *is* something that works in dios mios and not nintendont :-p.if you have the retail disc, it's always better to play them with the official MIOS.
if you want to play from disc with DM/DML, at least you'll have the Audio-streaming games working correctly and have voices/sounds.
DIOS MIOS and Lite version are now old.
If you want them for "fun" and just experience DM/DML to see what's it's capable of, then it's fine. But like you noticed, it replaces your MIOS slot so you can only have one at a time and you need to replace it to either swith the device (USB or SD) or go back to official disc launch.
Note that disc launching IS working with DM/DML, but you need the target device plugged in (ex: if you have DM, you need the HDD plugged to boot the disc, or it will wait for HDD mount and will never launch the game).
Now, users are using Nintendont instead of DM/DML.
it doesn't install or replace any system file. it's a normal homebrew launched from the homebrew channel (or even from external loaders, like wiiflow or USBLoaderGX). It works on both Wii and vWii. It works with both SD and USB with the same version. It's compatible with Audio streaming games just fine, it has 100% perfect compatibility with all games, and even more games (Triforce Arcace games are working fine too, no need to install another MIOS for triforce ISO).
It's compatible with many USB controllers, with Wiimote, with WiiU pro controller, PS3/PS4 controllers, etc.
It works on FAT32 or exFAT, with MBR/EBR/GPT partitions.
edit: oh, it works with disc too !
if you look only to test DM/DML, fine. if you look for game compatibility, go with Nintendont.
only thing is dios mios works better with a few select games, like super smash bros melee, while nintendont crashes randomly on the menus. I use nintendont for everything else already. I was just wondering for standard gamecube games since I need dios mios installed for usbloaderGX to enable widescreen patches for super smash bros melee, but I was just double checking whether I would need to load EVERYTHING through nintendont now (except melee).if you have the retail disc, it's always better to play them with the official MIOS.

thanks. However, what I want to know is if having DIOS MIOS installed will affect regular disc drive games that are run through the disc channel that have compatibility issues with DIOS MIOS, or would I want a clean MIOS in that case? I need to keep DIOS MIOS for the widescreen patches for melee (unless there is some way to get them with a clean MIOS, and if that would mess with anything), but would that mean I need 2 different MIOSes? or just don't even bother loading anything through the disc channel anymore and instead through nintendont?no, you don't need to load everything with the loader you choose as default.
If you prefer nintendont for all games (for compatibility or controller support, etc.), set Nintendont as default gamecube mode in USBLoaderGX main settings.
Then go to your game (SSB), go to its individual options, here you can set settings that only this game will use. set it to use MIOS, and it will use the current loader installed in the MIOS slot.
Audio streaming is a method to access Audio on the disc.
Instead of preloading all the files in memory (like loading a map, or a texture), some games don't preload audio files. instead each audio has a known position on the disc and the game only send a command to the drive "play the audio located at position xxxx".
the disc drive plays the audio found at that position in overlay of the game's current audio.
For example, you load a map, it loads the textures, the "background music" etc. in memory.
You talk to someone, the background music is not shutdown or removed from memory to play the dubbed audio for the talking NPC. instead, you have both sound played at the same time : background music + Speech merged together. one is played by the game's music function, one is played by the disc drive.
You can compare it to the way some PS1 games had multi tracks on the disc : data + CD Audio tracks (ADPCM). the tracks where streamed while you played the game.
some games had only a data track and no CD audio track, all the music were in binary file format compiled with the game files.
Nintendont is emulating the disc drive and mix the audio correctly. But there's a requirement : you can't compress your ISO ! if you compress the ISO or edit/move the files located in that ISO, the file's addresses will be different, and the game will request an address to be played, another (or no) sound will be streamed from the disc drive.
You can find a better explanation and a list of games with audio streaming here :

I'd recommend to never compress a game, clean full ISO are not that big to keep them uncompressed.
